Palia
When are they going to fix the absolutely busted fishing RNG?
I used 50 worms and couldn't get a single Energized Piranha for my quest. I filled up my entire inventory with fish and couldn't get the Sashimi recipe. I'm still missing 4 fish for bundles that refuse to appear. And the various fishing buff items suck. The ones you can craft yourself are weak as hell, the one you have to buy are overpriced, and there is no buff whatsoever that will increase your chances for rare fish.

No fish in the game should ever have less than 5% chance....

Yeah it's random but that doesn't excuse that they set the drop rate to 1% and then added a time limit as well (morning only fish for example).
That and the fact that you can't even tell when or where to catch anything until you've already caught it. There's no hints. You have to use a website that tells you the answer.
Yes it's supposed to be random but they totally need to tweak some settings. Some fish are ridiculously hard to find, and don't mention trying to catch them when you hook one.
I've been trying to catch a star giant gold fish since closed beta back in July/August 2023, and I still don't have one. In all this time I've only seen and caught one measly gold fish, and it was of course not starred.
The thing is, it can be random without being unfair... they really just need to balance the rates out quite a bit.
Also make sure you are in the right spot. Some of the info out there is not up to date. I spent a week trying to get a fish and realized I was in the wrong spot. So check multiple sources. Still took me an hour, but I got it. Use fishing buffs as well. Try to fish next to people get a buff then go to where you need to be and fish. I will always try and fish next to someone if I see them fishing alone so they can get the buff :)
The chance to catch rare and epic quality fish was dropped, because people were making too much money off of fishing. They screwed people out of completing quests and bundles quickly because there was too much money coming into the "economy".

You have to fish in the bubble circles to get starred fish. You will never catch a starred fish just by casting into water.

The only hint you get is if the fish appears in a bundle. It will tell you when and where to catch it. Other than that, there's no clue.
Drop rate should increase with fishing level. I'm hoping this economy re-balance does SOMETHING on drop rates for uncommon and rare fish. I didn't get them all until about 150 hours in. Coming up on 200 hours and have yet to pull a starred fairy carp to complete the fishing achievements. In comparison the bugs were SO easy

The bugs are imo just as bad, because even though you can tell what they are before you have to go after them, it's still a lot of running around, and who knows when what you want will spawn anyway? I only caught my third rainbow-tipped butterfly after 6 months because it happened to spawn at a grove. Honey Lures mostly spawn useless garbage, and the buzzy jar will often just point out random azure stonehoppers.

Yeah but even then, you have to hoof it all the way back to the night sky temple just to look it up.

The wiki at GG is usually up to date. I know for a while, some of the bahari ponds weren't functioning properly, but that wasnt intended anyway.

I feel like the RNG is "working as intended." Devs aren't doing anything even approaching a medium or large update each month. What else do they have to keep people playing but crazy-ass RNG? Nothing. It's like they're daring people to just quit from lack of content or sheer frustration, whichever comes first.

Thanks you. Yes and I do, and I've tried every darn pond in the game. Used to fairly easy to get one in the pond where Gina hangs out. Been trying at all the pond locations at various hours their simply not there any more.

I'll check some more online maps and see if it makes a difference. But tbh it's getting old not being able to get the darn thing. But hey even getting a stared ancient fish took me ages. Just got one like a month ago.
I HATE fishing minigames in any game. The only mod i've used in stardew valley was to auto catch to skip fishing entirely. I've progressed in Palia enough that most what is left to do is cook and fish for the bundles. Cooking that depends on fishing. I'm about to ditch this game entirely because of the fishing NECESSITY. It's boring, dull and the RNG is totally busted. As a matter of fact i hate anything that depends on RNGs, instead of skill. It takes away agency from the player and that's absolutelly frustrating. Are there any Stardew like game WITHOUT fishing?

I feel this in my soul. I have less trouble with fishing, but don't get me started on the 5K+ sernuk I've offed in the past 10 days or so without a single plushie. Not one. And then I see streamers getting one every 20 minutes and I want to yeet the entirety of S6 into the sun.
