When are they going to fix the absolutely busted fishing RNG?

I used 50 worms and couldn't get a single Energized Piranha for my quest. I filled up my entire inventory with fish and couldn't get the Sashimi recipe. I'm still missing 4 fish for bundles that refuse to appear. And the various fishing buff items suck. The ones you can craft yourself are weak as hell, the one you have to buy are overpriced, and there is no buff whatsoever that will increase your chances for rare fish.

No fish in the game should ever have less than 5% chance....

Some of the fish are very hard to catch so I totally agree on that! As far as your worms are concerned, if you wait till the fish bites on the third time you should be able to see which fish is on the line before you go to reel it in.

If it's not the fish you want just don't press your button to reel it in and when it stops biting just recast your line and that way you don't use a worm. Hope this helps, I found this out on the reddit... Saved me plenty of worms.

That's not the point. It's sometimes hard to tell what's fish it is especially if you've never seen it before and either way you have to wait then cast again

Don’t worry. Once the outfits aren’t paying back the massive loans they borrowed. I am speculating they will have items in the cash shop to boost the chance, for a very reasonable fee!

Busted RNG? The "R" means "random", so sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you get unlucky, that doesn't mean it's busted. I suppose you may not like your chances, the drop rate for special fish is somewhat low, but you said you only used 50 worms so far. You don't need a lot of special drops usually, except for some quests and the like. After that you can pretty much ignore the special drops for the most part.

(What was busted before is the sushi recipe. I kept fishing in ponds for hours, never got the drop, which is less and less likely over time, but not impossible, and then they announced the drop was indeed bugged.)

You know it's weird luck with the sushi recipe (it's happened with other things too that have taken me a long time to fish up like the unicorn fish), I fish for ages until I've had about enough of the fishing and then left it a while, then I spot the bubbles somewhere a while later and decide ' oh alright, one more time today' and BAM what I was fishing for.. The rng on this is really weird sometimes!

But that's not weird though, that's just randomness. I suppose you could say randomness is inherently weird.

There's this story from Apple, I think from back in the iPod days, where they had a shuffle feature that randomized music tracks. Sometimes when shuffling track 1 through 10 (or whatever), it resulted in track 4 being followed by 5 for instance, the original order, which is completely expected. However people complained about it not being random enough, so Apple made changes to ensure tracks wouldn't play in the original order any more. They actually made it less random to make it seem more random to people who didn't know what randomness actually entails.

I tried 30 times to get a void ray, and nothing. Statistically speaking, that's less than a 3% chance. I got like like 15 blobfish, one single hypnotic moray, but not even one void ray.

By that logic, you should catch it with 1 cast because 0 out of 1 (0%) would be below 3%. Statistics will always have outliers when randomness is added. Come back after 1000s of casts, as your catch rate tends toward that 3% (or whatever the rate actually is).

That's not how it works. You can't catch something in zero attempts. My calculcation is based on catching a void ray on the next possible attempt, which would be 1:31 (3.2%). Even as a "outlier" this is statistically absurd for something that SHOULD be closer to 1:15

You didn't listen to a word I just said. Catching 0 in 1 attempt is not 0%. I'm not going by worst possible scenario, I'm going by best possible scenario. The best possible scenario, after failing one attempt, is catching it on the next attempt, which is 50%. And one is a laughably small sample size.

Even if I catch it on my 31st attempt, the ratio can't possibly be equivalent to 50 percent. And even if it was something like 10%, being unable to catch it in 30 times is outrageously unlikely. Like, sure it's possible to flip a coin and get heads 10 times in a row, but that doesn't mean it you should expect it to happen. The fact that I still haven't caught a void ray after all this time (or any of the other fish I need for the bundles/recipes) suggests either their odds are WAY lower than they should be, or there's something wrong with the RNG calculations themselves.

I need one, rare star fish to finish quest. Months have gone by and still I need one rare star fish. I get rare fish but not star. ugh....it shouldn't be that hard when it is a quest item.

I wish I knew the recipe. I have caught temple fish and a void fish.

Are you using sushi recipe and fish potion? That has helped ...but still need one rare star fish.

Sushi recipe is too expensive (Takes dari cloves), and there are currently no buffs that have any impact on your chance for rare fish.

There is randomness yes but with all randomness there is a percentage. Some fish even if super rare should have a bit of a higher chance than they are now like unicorn, ancient fish, even 2 of the bugs that arent even epic. The sushi didnt even take long to catch for me. I'm not known to have high luck because I lost 2 normal unicorn fish and 4 starred ancient fish but to get them to spawn took me hours and I had to switch games and take breaks because of it.
