in game chat since update

Since today's update, I don't see any chats in the world even though there's alot of people around. I tried to say something to the server and then to the local. I didn't see either appear, so I assume either chats are not working for everyone or my settings got goofed up with the update.

It has been broken for over a year. They must have decided to just remove chat, rather than fix it.

They use a third party library, vivox, for chat. Maybe they just can't get it to work?
Anyone remember that blogpost on amazon about the amazing tech behind Palia that was actually just a presentation of how over engineered it is?
Hope they just decide to write their own chat service since this had so many issues for so long...

idk how since they hardly have any devs left on their team after the massive lay-offs :/

No ability to type anything. No message of server connects in the little box either. I'm sure they'll fix it soon. Everything was fine before the update. I was thinking it was my PC or something until this post. :)

That is supposed to be a benefit of Vivox and other 3rd party vendors. They help you get their product working with your product. Downside, it costs money, which S6 doesn't have. Another management failure.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one with this issue. I looked it up earlier, and I was told I needed to uninstall and reinstall the game because it had happened before (with the distinct difference that the only chat message they got was the server join message, and I've not been getting that message at all).

I verified the files first and tried again, didn't help. Then I uninstalled and reinstalled, that didn't help either.

And now I'm here.

We might just have to wait until there's another patch or a bit of server maintenance.

WizardCrab said in the Discord they can't get any patches approved by Nintendo until after the holidays, so there won't be another patch until January.

Only hope for fixing chat is that it's something on their end they can fix internally without rolling out an actual patch / hotfix.

I am the same.
Even after logging in again or restarting the PC, the chat function does not work properly.
