Palia
👎🏾It's unfortunate it's Always Online 🙄
Sick and tired these games that look so Good. Having their potential wasted to being another MMO. Always online garbage where you need to rely on connecting to a server to play. Stay vigilant, always online games always die eventually. You're not guaranteed to be able to play this game once it decides to shutdown its servers unless if it has am offline only option. 😡

Yes

Yes, I confirm, I have been playing it for a week, never a server problem, the game is beautiful, complete, chill and the community is pleasant, not toxic at all. Not many french people but all countries are present, it will grow.

I play it since "release" there are many players :) I have no problem to find random people to run a dungeon or play in open world. Or play with friends. :)

The games its playable over Epic Games (PC), Nintendo Switch or over the own client. And all is crossover. So you and we have no exacte informations about playerbase.
Unless you play it yourself and see for yourself.

I've never understood why people "hate" (talk badly) about a game. If you don't actively play it yourself or have no interest in the game at all and try to badmouth it to others.

If you don't like something and "what" you don't like has no influence on your own life, you can leave it alone and ignore it. But the human psyche is probably not quite right for some people. XD

"release" ? That's probably not the right word for "beta".
Previously, the number of players was publicly available. However, they were later hidden. If I'm not mistake

PS/if you are not ready to discuss the game, then I advise you to shut up

You are not "discussing" the game, you are hating on it.

But he is hating the game in several threads here. Let's let him have the fun :)

this is the first game that i know of of its category (cozy sim) that is an MMO. It's whole design concept is for it to be a cozy mmo?
Stardew and animal crossing are games you can do offline in a similar category. along with dozens of other games

if you got your moneys worth, it's really not that big of a deal is it?

My Steam account is 19 years old and I've got games from 2004 that are not only Delisted on steam but you can no longer buy them new anywhere on or off steam as the companies who made them are no longer making games such as "The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay" I can download those games still and play them from start to finish with no issues.

But the Dev team behind Palia are real scummy I played it in EA and upon launch all vanities had to be bought, and at like £25 - £30 per full outfit, but you could only buy currency at like £40. immediately it turned into players appropriately shouting at devs for being scummy and devs going full radio silent but also releasing more expensive items to buy.
Meanwhile the game was lacking such basic mechanics like vaulting, stuff that had been in earlier footage and any time players figured out a meta, like that farming a certain deer at night in a certain area was profitable and cut down some of the sow grind, devs instantly nerfed it, while again radio silent on actual bugs that should be easy fixes
world instances had more people than resources and players were punished for trying to cooperate, in that you either took a node knowing it would mess up everyone else, or you call out in global chat and wait ages for others to show up
nodes took like 2 hours to respawn too and in the end people stopped waiting because who has time so within a week maps were just constantly bare
theres more to it, but basically devs actively ruining the few profitable paths, ignoring quest breaking bugs, and then asking for lots of money for the only outfits in the game that was decent while being scummy about the currency and grind walls.

Yeah, thats sadly true. And the content is since years the same, no "big updates", i think the steam release is the last hope to milk money. I want more zones, maps, contintents more of all. But its true when u play it "cozy" that means 1-2h per day, then maybe u have a lot of fun, but if you play it a other way, then no. ^^

This is true of World of Warcraft and Lord of the Rings Online and any other mmorpg. I kind of wish they could be preserved -- made available offline too -- but that can't work for an mmorpg with a competitive or cooperative element. A free version as a back up, if and when it might fail? Yes, it would be great if that was a fallback for any of us who lost mmorpg access due to closure -- e.g., Warhammer online and Wildstar.

So many MMOs have offline modes... I think you're confusing what the person's saying... Always Online meaning you always connect to play even with single player vs Offline avaliable
DarkEternal Mar 2, 2024 @ 5:55pm
Well, you could always make your own offline game.
Oh, you don't know how?
Then, you're forced to play what is released. If you don't like it, don't play it. It's really that simple. ♥♥♥♥, I hate squad based PvP FPS games. You don't see me going to their Steam pages and whining about it not being single player and offline, do you? Nope.
I just put them on the Ignore list and move on.
You're here just to feel persecuted because how dare these devs make a good looking MMO.
A delicate, fragile, special individual like yourself should never be confronted with a game you don't like. That's just unforgivable.
Get a hobby, kid. Seriously. This isn't your only thread and none of them are having the effect you think. You're just making yourself look foolish and entitled.
Neiro Mar 2, 2024 @ 7:43pm
you know, what's really stupid is to waste time on the online version Stardew Valley (well, or there was a game with the same promotional video nearby), in which your progress just burns out when the server is turned off. in fact, they just devalue your time under strange pretexts to run around with strangers

Oh look Nightingale is thinking of becoming an offline game

Eh Online constant is a bust for me considering I travel everyday and use the Steam Deck to play games while on a bus and on break at work.
