2. Tools will downgrade when broken, so it's important to check durability before that happens. Each time you go back to town, it is vital you repair your tools.
3. With building parts, yes. Other items are crafted instantly.
4. This really isn't a PvE/PvP game. You don't even have a health bar.
There's no PvP. You still just delete animals for hunting; there are no monsters or anything like that.
It just means you can't spend all day running around without no recourse. Besides, maintaining tools in other games is similar. Durability is a thing.
