Palia
Does it still require you to create a third party account?
It's a deal breaker. If I have the game I steam I should just be able to play the game.

I just came back to check because I was watching a Josh Strife Hayes video and he mentioned it and it reminded me that I did actually download it twice and deleted it twice without ever creating an account.

yes, you have to create a palia.com account.
this is nothing out of the ordinary since other games require this, too.
valve is not providing the infrastructure or any part of the game at all, so its perfectly fine and logical.

No, other games do not require this.

Some games do, some games don't. In my experience the better games tend to make it optional and the worse games tend to make it a requirement. I'm not wasting time to set up an account only to find out 5 minutes into the game that it is trash or doesn't run well. If I'm already logged in via steam that should be good enough. Same thing happens on PlayStation. About 50% of games just link to the PlayStation login and the other 50% want me to create an account first and that has turned out to be a red flag more often than not.

As I said, I only mentioned it because Josh mentioned it hadn't taken off and I wondered how many people, like me, just didn't want to have to make an account.

Food for thought for the devs. Maybe don't put roadblocks in the way of people trying your game.

Games that were designed for Steam don't require a third party account. I can list off several MMOs (some extremely popular, too, like FFXIV) that required a third party account.

If it bothers you so much, just download the Palia installer from their site, then you don't have to worry about it.
Its takes less than 2 mins to set one up, you don't even need to link your steam account to it. you could probably run this game on a potato plus the game is really fun if you like cosy games. Oh and its f2p, So yeah you could of had it done in the time you spent complaining on the forums :p

*laughs in activision and tons of others*
youre wasting my time. bye.
you never get any spam emails for them, the account is more so for bug reporting and to reedem codes and to link twitch in case you want drops since you cannot do that in game. other than that you can forget about it and it wont ask you to log in at all beyond that point.

You don't need to create a Palia account to play the game on Steam. Its only use is to give you the ability to play the same character on multiple platforms, and to contact support. I've been playing on Steam for 47 hours without a Palia account and I'm doing fine. They haven't tried to make me create an account beyond the first message when you first create your character.
