Is the Willow Lamprey still a thing?

I've tried over half a dozen nights from 9pm to 3am in the rivers of Bahari.. the north rivers that merge together as they reach the coast and both sides of flooded fortress.. I've caught numerous thundering eels, and still haven't seen a willow lamprey bite my hook let alone catch the star quality I need.

Does this thing still exist in game? Do I need to meet some pre-req to unlock it like the ancient fish? Why is this ugly mo-fo so hard to get? I am currently 79 of 81 star quality fish in my collection, with only the willow lamprey and ancient fish left to go. I need to catch an enchanted pupfish, shimmerfin, and a unicorn long nose to finish unlocking the ancient fish and I'm starting to think I might catch one of those before I get a willow lamprey..

I saw one once. I hooked it but failed to catch it. Haven't seen one again since. It's one of the three fish I need for the regular quality fish achievement. Never mind star quality fish. I need a bunch of those.

It's actually not terrible if you set out for it and have the patience and the farms for it (currently out of glow worms trying to get the unicorn fish to unlock the ancient fish).. I'm missing the swordfin eel, blue spotted ray and the willow lamprey in regular quality. After double checking the pictures of the fish, I realized the fish I hooked was blue and must have been the swordfin eel. I don't believe I saw the fish you were looking for after all. :(

I still wish you the best of luck! The random nature of these things is a beast.

sounds like you caught the Thundering Eel.. you can catch this any time of the day from Bahari Rivers with worms.. which is why I have seen it over 10 times while fishing for the Willow Lamprey between 9p and 3am..

I caught a regular Willow lamprey today in Flooded Fortress. I did not find a star one yet. It certainly helps that I started using the right bait. I made sure to write down to use the normal worm. Thank you for your list.

nice job.. congrats.. you're one step closer to a willow lamprey star quality than me.. I haven't even seen a normal one.. but I don't fish without the pools most times..

Edit: Oh snaps! I should use a Tuning Fork for this one since the pools in the rivers can be so far apart and running the wrong way when there's no pools in that direction can be a real time sink..

Also, I caught my unicorn today, so I've unlocked the Ancient Fish.. now it's a race to see which I catch first and which completes my set.. xD

Yay! I'm so happy for you! And don't forget to check both waterfalls in the Fortress for pools.

Edit- the swordfin eel finished my list and I got it in the same Fortress waterfall a little bit later

Nice.. congrats! The swordfin eel is hands down my favorite eel.. it's like part Midnight Paddlefish and part Eel..

I just need the Ancient Fish now..

I've been trying all day for my Starred Willow Lamprey. I've already gotten my Ancient Fish and my Swordfin Eel. I swear the Willow Lamprey does not exist.

I know that feeling.. took me what felt like a dozen different nights before I finally caught one.. good luck, persistence pays off.

Ive been working on my fishing collection also. Sometimes it can jus be sooo frustrating!! BUT..I caught my Willow just last week...so they are there!! Remember..its fishing :-)

I caught one today at night with a worm, at the bottom of the waterfall near the statue gardens, which completed all fishes quest and got me to 94%. (still waiting for the starred one)
