The exception is when you get Starred versions from unstarred materials. For example there's a chance to get starred grilled fish from two unstarred fishes and the price will be higher then the sum of ingredients in this case.
Furniture absolutely need to be sellable.
1) If you like the furniture, but have no room for it, keep it.. we get multiple plots to build on and you may want the furniture in the future. Don't throw away your materials to need them again later..
2) Furniture you do not want can be given to Trish once a day as a gift to boost your friendship status.
3) Starred versions of certain items can actually be placed as decor. This includes food cooked from a stove/oven or mixing/prepping station.. I don't think this applies to campfire cooked food. Also includes gems mined from nodes.. which I REALLY wish I knew from the beginning because the Starred Jasper has taken weeks to replace and I'm still trying to replace my Emerald and Onyx.. (and I'm still trying for an Amethyst)

Furniture doesn't take up storage so you can't not have room for it.
Of course
I didn't say it's impossible, I said give players one free slot for unlimited decor storage is just easier. A work is a work even it's the easy thing like you just said. But once they add recycling function to some furniture, this require devs to add that into all furniture included any new furniture that will come along with any new content (basically more work). Not to mention any potential bugs or issues that may occur, as of today player experienced invisible glider, last month some fish tank problem etc.
I did said earlier, it would be great to see. But, If devs don't bother with it, it just goes to show it's not on their priority list, or they just think there's nothing wrong with it (at this moment).
The reason many things like these aren't added into the game, things of convenience, is because you'd spend more time isolated on your plot and less time outside of your plot, which is their main goal, pushing you to be outside of your plot.
