This Game WAS Fun - Now I'm just kinda sad...?? - UPDATED 12/1/24

EDIT: My main quest was finally fixed! I'm had a good time finishing up the quest, but couldn't help but feel like this update was so, so short. Didn't even take me two hours to complete. The food is still bugged for me, and I haven't had much issues with the fishing nodes.

I only started playing the game three weeks ago-ish, but I've sunk more than 100 hours into it and I'm just kinda....sad? Every time I go to log on I find something else that's bugged or broken. After this last large update I was super hopeful about a lot of the other bugs I was having trouble with being ironed out, but I'm finding my experience to be less than stellar almost every time I log on now.

I JUST hopped on to cook a bit, and maybe go around and get my friendship up with some of the villagers but some of the recipes are STILL bugged. I can't cut up some of the items, or combine some of the items for some recipes and it leads to ruined food over and over again (I'm aware that sometimes you have to CHOOSE the ingredient to make sure you're not making duplicate etc, this is not that issue, the option to cut up those ingredients just weren't there).

Last week I had to create a bug report about one of the main quests breaking for me when I had a level 3 friendship quest for Nai'o going on at the same time. I went to turn in Nai'o's lvl 3 friendship quest. Turned it in, got his letter proving I finished it. While this quest was selected, my Shepp quest was finishing, I just needed to talk to Eshe to get to the ceremony etc.

Poof. Gone. The whole quest lol. And Nai'o's quest was set back a couple steps.

Again, luckily the new update fixed that, and I was able to complete and go to my own Shepp celebration. But outside of that fix my game is still a mess and I STILL had to recomplete Nai'o's friendship quest, wasting resources lol.

Not even going into the fall event they run (chapaa's sticking to peoples hands, whole servers breaking the games, etc.)

I CAN'T COMPLETE THE NEW CONTENT FROM THE NEW UPDATE LOL, I can't meet the person I need to at the ruins or the tent nearby, she just simply won't show up there. My character was stuck under the main area for an entire day (unstuck re-spawn included), and some of the more intricate mechanics constantly break. I'd go into more details about it, if I wasn't so exhausted coming upon them all (if someone responds to this, I can go into more detail, but I'm not gonna pore my heart out lol I just needed to vent). My free time nearly isn't as much as it once was when I was a teenager/young adult etc, and I'm not even an mmo player outside of this.

BUT, it's making me want to hop mmo's because of how imo...disheartening the last couple weeks for me have been. It doesn't give me as bad a vibe as Fallout 76, but man....when I can't even get unstuck from the middle of the map on a GOOD day...it just makes me not want to play it. I'll just go to the 100s of other games I have in my library to destress and feel "Home".

Subira is in the Night Sky Temple and not the Ruins. Yes ... the Ruins is closer to Hekla's tent.

I was not asked to find Subira, I'm asked to find Jina. She does not appear in either the Ruins, or the temple next. Many other Palian's are having this exact problem.

Must be frustrating. I was lucky to not have that issue. The Ruins instead of the Night Sky Temple was the most common, but easy to fix, issue I have come across ... aside from people not remembering where the Temple of Flames is located.

There was a hot-fix and Jina will appear in the Night Sky Temple and refer you to Subria and then the quests will start. You'll be meeting Sudria at all temples and do the quests required. Eventually you'll end up with the Gardner who wants to visit certain location and people.

Yeah, I'm really not sure what's going on with the Engineering department at S6 at this point... every patch seems to break more than it fixes. And some of the stuff you have to wonder exactly how they managed to break it.

This hasn't been a new thing either, this has been going on even well into the early tests. I could excuse it back then when we were testing back in 2021, but for it to now be almost 2025 and some of the same recurring bugs keep popping up... it's alarming.

Hopefully if I check it out again it'll work for me. Sometimes I get lucky like that, but lately it's been buggy. It won't stop me from playing the game, especially if they keep working on it (which I know they will, the devs are a responsive bunch), it's just one of my comfort games so it's been frustrating <3

Thank you! I'm hoping to go back in the next couple days to check it out. I'm hoping it's fixed for me.

Yeah, There's a really good discussion post somewhere here that talks about the differences a player has seen when picking the game back up after a year and it really gives a lot of insight. I'm not a game developer so I can't imagine what kind of issues they're having personally. It's also hard for me to fully put in my input cause I've only joined the community the last few months now, and the games been running for over a year. I'm sticking it out cause I deeply connect with the community. I just wanted to vent, and have found talking to this community about its problems cathartic. :3

This is my thought, exactly. Touching one system (adding plushies to the fish loot) shouldn't break another system (water splash animation when fishing in nodes).

I wonder if the fish plushies messed up the item ID for cooking ingredients, too, which would explain why cooking is now broken.

That's a good point! I'm not the coder in my family, my fiance takes that title, but the way you're talking about IDs makes sense, similar to how stardew valley assigns IDs etc.

I haven't noticed the fishing nodes not working yet, unless they JUST fixed that not too long ago. But I have noticed other palians in the discussions talking about it.
