Unable to connect to Steam

I played Palia when it first arrived and made an account on the website, I was playing in the standalone launcher back then. I now want to play on Steam but it is giving me this message

"Unable to connect to Steam login services. Please try again later"

I've logged into the website to see if I can link it but I can't click the Steam account part to link, it doesn't have a button to link Steam. I've tried to download the game from the account page and clicked Steam which takes me to the game page in Steam but I already have it downloaded. When I start the game it still giving me the same message along with

"Login error code : -1"

So the question is how can I link my account? I can't even make a new account in game, there is no option to do that, I get the error message as soon as the game loads.

Nevermind, I reinstalled and ran as administrator and it seemed to have connected now, not sure what the problem was though.

yours was the standalone browser version not the steam till you redownloaded from there
