Palia

Palia updates scaring me
It feels as though each update is further and further from the last. Haven't even seen any whispers of what's next just ad post about what money items can be bought now in game. before it used to feel like palia was getting an update every tuesday and or wednesday. At the very least there was an update saying whats happening the following week if it wasn't that week.

I'm not feeling the boost mentioned in the acquisition letter. Maybe it's just me.

The 1.0 update will either be in August or September seeing as how there's only one thing left to add (my guess, don't hold me to my word). We'll see it at least before the end of the year.

How frequent the updates will be after that, and how much content they will contain, is anyone's guess.

We probably won't get anything beyond the typical S6 once a month "here have a crumb that isn't cash shop" for at least the next 6 months, if not longer. Daybreak would need at least that amount of time to exterminate the management cockroaches that caused the issues with development in the first place, then time to get their own management team in, time to evaluate the employees that are remaining, and then time to either hire back past employees or hire new ones. Then on top of all that they'd need time to get new devs caught up on the programming language, pipeline, etc. that isn't industry standard, then they could finally plan out and start work on actual content. Although even then the first couple of updates post Daybreak acquisition will probably be more using of what's already done / almost complete before they can start on anything new.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I was told there was lay offs (not sure if that part is true) and they just recently got bought by Daybreak. Expect big money hungry tactics coming and terrible patches.

Or expect better, because I've yet to see anyone bring up an objective criticism of Daybreak.

Other than apparently they ruined H1Z1! What a shame. /S

The only thing they do is buy existing games, make 0-minimal changes, reduce staff, and let the games run themselves (slowly to nothing)

All lies. Every game they have has been getting expansions.

You offer criticism, but no proof.

Every game they still have.

I remember when this was a decent game in non-steam "beta". Then the cash shop happened and thats all they focused on... Havent played since around September of last year, i think? I tried firing up the old client but doesnt work, so, DLing steam vers and seeing if its still as messed up as I last remembered... Im hoping something got better.

UPDATE: Yeah, not much has changed it looks like. Picked up the new quest for the investigator. Still get that weird error about my clothes when I first start the game. Everything is still in my account though after linking, so that was a surprise. Ill play more next weekend and see whats new, but doesnt seem like theres a whole lot added since the last time I played... oh well, still waiting on Farm Folks to announce EA, but that will be a while as well. Ugh...bored.
Can't believe I got so invested on this game lately only to find out it might die. I already completed all the quests and I am at the point in which I cannot do other thing than wait... Do I have to research the stability of a game company prior next time? :/ Sucks.

What a wild, baseless, guess this is. You are not only guessing that there is "one thing left to add" before 1.0, but also how long that one thing will take. They've provided nothing resembling a roadmap for us to make any sort of educated guesses on this.

You can absolutely make an educated guess.

#1 - There are 4 temples, one for each element (water, air, fire, earth).
#2 - There are no more places on the map to place temples.
#3 - All the bundles are complete.
#4 - The Daybreak announcement said: "...we’ll continue investing in the development and exploration of new and innovative ideas in the online multiplayer cozy community sim genre, bringing Palia to its 1.0 launch..."

Just because you aren't smart enough to make an educated guess doesn't mean other people aren't.

There's a pathway in Bahari and the one behind the stonewall on the player plot that could be used to add another section to the world map, there just wouldn't be a good way to directly connect the new section to Kilima other than using the fast travel boards.

You spoke with certainty, not an educated guess. What if temples aren’t limited to the elements? What if they expand the maps or add more maps? (Many players hope they do, because currently it’s pitifully limited) What if they add more bundles? Truth is, I think your educated guess is correct because I don’t think they’re good enough at game development to accomplish more than this. But you spoke with certainty based on assumptions. My intelligence isn’t the issue, your logic is.

It’s also worth pointing out that 1.0 isn’t the finish line, or at least it shouldn’t be. They’re developing a live service game. Ultimately they will need to add more to the things you’ve mentioned. Where the 1.0 line is, we have no idea because they haven’t provided that information.

The Daybreak announcement made no mention of timeline, only that they will continue developing the game as it reaches 1.0. If anything, their statement is a red flag that the product may stall out or die after 1.0 if the quality or profit doesn’t reach their expectations.

Same here. I love the game and thought that by releasing on Steam and increasing its audience, the game would speed up and start releasing more stuff and content and tiers to keep people interested and playing, but from what I'm reading, it's the opposite. Many people ask about new features and no one is clear about anything, leaving everything in theory and assumptions.

It's a game with a lot of potential, and apparently there's a lot of discouragement about its future. So sad.
