Long Nosed Unicorn Fish
I'm going to stop playing this game because it's hard to catch long-nosed unicorn fish. But the problem is that it's also hard to find.

you can find them along the beach of bahari bay, its simply down to luck whether they wanna show up early or make it a slight pain :) i recommend having a fully upgraded fishing rod to make sure it cant slip away too easily + fisherman's brew

The fishing RNG is busted, and you will never convince me otherwise.

(Yes I caught this fish before, but still)

Highest level fishing rod + fisherman's brew (cook on the campfire) + major safe zone size booster hook (buy from Einar)

Just buy good mouse and use high dpi. Green - pull, red or jump - hold. No need any brew, boosters, etc

It's stupid that there isn't a single buff or item in the game that makes rare fish more common. All they do is improve your safe zone, recover speed, wait time, etc

i thought the turning rod would show you places rare fish was more likely to spawn like how the others guide you to rare resources but alas it was the most underwhelming experience ive had to date in that game. that was a missed opportunity.

it should have given you better odds to find rare fish instead of pointing out the completely obvious fish nodes

Almost. There is one more useless than that, but not by much.

The tuning rod can be weakly helpful in Bahari, as there are more node-spawn locations than spawned nodes, but that's about it. Killima is too small to bother - you can run from one corner to the opposite in under 2 minutes, which means there's no reason to ever miss a node.

All the fishable regions are lumped together though. If you know what biome you want (river, lake, pond) you can easily find the areas to check on the map. Then just walk back and forth.

The bigger problem is getting all the starred fish, since it's totally up to RNG

They need to nerf fishing.. especially these hard to get rare fish. It's bad enough how rare they are. But it's ridiculous that you have to be all buffed up and still it's luck if you can catch them with them darting left and right and up and down. I just barely missed a starred Unicorn fish and I was buffed. It's ridiculous and a buzz kill. Also still can't catch the ancient fish. I don't understand why they did this to fishing ... bugs aren't like this.

You will only get starred fish from nodes. You will never get them randomly not fishing on a node. Ergo, if you need starred fish, save your rod & your bait and just run between spawned nodes.

Obviously. That doesn't make it any easier to get the ones you're missing.

Both fishing rare and uncommon fish and bugs are designed to take a long time. Yes it is infuriating and frustrating. I hooked and missed about six of the ancient fish before on the 9th try I actually got a starred fish and it was both 'it's about flaming time' and exhilarating. I found for the long nosed unicorn fish, it took several days fishing but I only stuck to the whirling spots so I only caught starred fish. It saves getting too many fish in your inventory to carry and makes sure you get the starred one if it hooks up. I broke my rod down a few levels, and my bow, and my bug bag so make sure you keep visiting the blacksmith forge to get tools repairs, and re-upgrade at home. Good luck!

Why would you do that? They give you ample warning, and there's plenty of recipes so you don't run out of materials. You can also just pay gold instead of repair kits.
