Cooking Experience
Can someone explain how experience for cooking works? I can't seem to level cooking very much... Do higher focus foods give more exp to cook or the ones that take more ingredients? Do you get more exp cooking with others? Does stared results give more or does star end product not matter in terms of exp given? So confused :(

Food that requires more ingredients gives more XP. Star quality food gives bonus XP.

Also, increase your focus bonus at the phoenix shrine to get even more bonus XP.

Ahhh cool, thanks for the info!
What's the fastest way to level up cooking aside from cooking parties? Recipes with more ingredients also take more time. I just want to get to level 20 so I can buy everything from Reth

The fastest way to level cooking is to just spam the recipe you are most comfortable cooking (and you have a lot of ingredients for).

I was doing petite fives because I have a million apples and you can buy almost all the other ingredients from Zeki's.

In that case, should I just spam Grilled Meat?

You mean on the campfire?

If you got 3 or 4 campfires going at once you could absolutely do that.

Yeah because it takes literally one step, and meat is plentiful. I just didn't know if it would even give enough exp to matter

Make sure you have focus so the XP is increased when you pick up the finished product. Keep eating periodically to maintain the focus bar.

Every 100 renown you spend at the phoenix shrine will increase that focus bonus.

Increase is 10% every 100 renown to 50%, then 5% each until 75%, then 1% each up to 100%. I haven't gone further than that at the moment.

Spoiler alert: it does not :(

I wish the wiki would list how much exp each recipe grants.

I have good luck leveling cooking by focusing on rare quality recipes. Most of them aren't hard to make and they give fairly good XP. Especially if you can get some people to join you in cooking.

It does, just not on the recipe page.

From the wiki - Cooking experience is equal to time limit minus 20.

So from that I infer that you would do best making the recipes with the longest time limit but that you can make faster than the time limit implies. Same as having multiple people doing it because you make it faster.
I have only made a few high tier recipes but enough to know that the time limit given is NOT actually a great indicator of how long it will take you to make it solo. Some I took right up to the limit and some I did very quickly.
Before you decide that this is the only factor in deciding what to craft also consider the time and effort you have to devote to sourcing components. You might actually get better XP by making a simple recipe that you can quickly source materials for over a complex (but quick) one you need to spend ages gathering material for. Make sense? Sure you may be able to make good XP crafting X over Y, but if X takes 5 times longer to farm bits for than Y???

Everyone is going to be different even for the same recipes and I found that if you can figure the 'right' order you can save a lot of time. Baking something in the oven, doing a quick mix or chop while it is baking and still managing to get it out before it burns helps a lot. Just standing there waiting while it bakes isn't great.

I hate the cooking part of this game, also when picking what dish to make, it'd be great if we could sort it from min to max focus, (i really hate scrolling thru dozens of recipes lol)

Right? There aren't enough sorting options for anything.
