A new map would be the Elder Woods, and the Kilima mountain, and the main Bahari city.
I wouldn't hold my breath for any new maps any time this year. If they can get the game into full release by the end of this year, MAYBE we'll see a new map by the end of next year, or the year after (2026).
If they let go of 49 people, and that was only 35% of the workforce, I'm thinking that most of the issues with Palia is because there were just too many cooks in the kitchen, as it were.
Palia isn't complex enough to warrant such a large dev team, and maybe management was smart enough (not likely) to just get rid of the slackers, and some real work can start to get done on the game.
"A culture of toxic positivity. Feedback is entirely ignored. Task priorities changing on a daily basis. The least productive company I've ever been a part of. Employees would regularly spend weeks redoing tasks and parts of the game because of management feedback. It felt very demotivating to see how little was accomplished over the course of my employment."
