Do Flow Trees need to be reworked?

I currently need about 200 wood from Flow Trees, and there's an unfortunate dependency on having a group of people who have the right gear, and understand the map to make this a less painful experience.

Is it possible to make Flow Tree gathering more possible when solo? I make call-outs in the server chat when I find a tree, but I have to make very specific call outs and walk people to my exact location, while also not rushing because leaving people out makes them mad, or I just can't cut most Flow Trees down.

TL:DR end-game grinding Flow Trees is a very frustrating and tedious task, and it would be amazing if I could cut more flow trees alone since the servers are not full.

I also use tracking gear, but if I have to sit there an wait for 3-5 people to show up slowly, then my tracking gear loses available time and it is super costly.

Flare arrows should make it so you don't need to walk people to your location. Another option is to use the request system to request flow wood. You can do that up to five times a day I believe.

I just now cut down 3 flow trees and received 4 flow-infused wood....
Even using a Dowsing Rod to track rare forage loot, I am only managing 4 flow-infused wood per 30 minutes, so 8/hr. I need hundreds, and this rate is going to take me so many hours.

Requesting others to give me 20x infused-wood is insane. Who is going to give me that much infused-wood? I can request 5 times a day and not get one fill, so requesting is not very valid right now.

Flares are only useful if there are other people in site of the flare, and if there is no one to see the flare then I can only stare at the flow tree wishing I could chop it down.

I request flow wood and palium everyday for my five requests and get them. Sure, they aren't always immediately filled and I may have to resubmit if they expire, but I get them fulfilled everyday. It's how I have over 500 planks

Sounds like a very fortunate experience. And you should know that not everyone is having your exact experience.

It also sounds like you haven't had to work very hard, and you've benefited a lot off of other people.

Some people have been playing so long they have a surplus of items. There's a storage limit on plots and some people need to offload materials so they don't max their item limit. I've given flow wood myself to others when I can and I farm groves when I can.

The request system is there for a reason. No one is obligated to fulfill requests. If I'm benefiting from the work of others, it's because they made the choice to be generous. This whole game is supposed to be about kindess (callouts, cooperation, plot tours, chats, hunting together)

I'm not discrediting your post. You seem to be under the assumption I am. My comment was to give some constructive advice to work around what we currently have. It was for you and everyone else reading and in the same boat as you.

You don't NEED that 200 flow wood right this instant. Waiting for groves gives about 20 - 30 wood, and you can do that once per real-world hour.

Barring that, just find one other person to join your party and clear-cut the large pine trees in north Bahari Bay. When a flow tree pops, the two of you chop it down. You don't even need to call it out (most people don't even respond to flow tree call-outs any more, anyway). You should be able to get 100 - 200 wood per hour if you're lucky with spawns and you only chop the large trees.

Every size flow tree, with the exception of the large ones, can be chopped solo (with the Palium axe). The only way to get flow trees to spawn is to chop the regular trees.

If you want to solo flow, start chopping. You have to put in the work if you want the reward.

Only problem: Since they can be chopped solo, everyone else on the map is going to chop them when they see them. They will reap the reward of your hard work.

I think the idea of having some end game content be co op required is nice but when its something so essential in such high quantities its really frustrating. I could see it being more cosmetic focused, i also think the game just has the most barebones co op/mmo features so its kind of a let down. I think the option to break them without others would be nice. Maybe just make it so doing it with a group adds more to the drop

As far as I'm concerned the only thing wrong with flow trees is that some furniture takes upwards of 30 wood. It's not how they spawn, it's how much they're used
