If you value your mouse/controller, use a macro. How they setup fertilizer is just another spotlight on their view on accessibility.

1 fertilizer is usually enough. If you want to go crazy, use 10.
100 is an absolute waste, if you ask me.

Fertilizer is only there for the weekly task.

It would only be a waste if it was used without benefit.

You can put as much fertilizer you want on a plot. The plant will only take what it needs. It stays on there even if the plot disappears, or you pick the plant. The next time you hoe it, the fertilizer will still be there. I put tons on all the plots that way I don't have to do it as often. When you hit "G" Harvest Boost 8 or whatever your fertilizer is. It means there are 8 fertilizers. If it is a spicy pepper or blueberry that takes up 4 that means it will be fertilized twice before it runs out. Usually two days. If it is an Apple tree, they use 9 a day. Single plants use 1 a day. So 10 has 10 days worth. If you pick the plant in 5, there are still 5 days worth.
