At least in Palia, the achievements are retro-active, so as long as you log in, you get the achievements you already earned :3
Shouldn't really matter since it's retroactive, any achievements you've already earned in game will reflect on the Steam achievements as well, as Kiki already said.

It matters to some people, that's all there is to it?
People like showing off completion, rare trophies, looking back at them like digital souvenirs from good times as memories can be attached to them.
Game seems to have achievements now so, for anyone interested in that sort of thing, I imagine they're happy with the inclusion.
