No catch that I've seen as of yet. I haven't been forced to pay for anything really. Being honest the only thing I paid for in this game was one of the Outfits from the store and that is it, but that was more just a personal choice.

Just keep in mind there are still bugs with the game. As long as the occasional bug doesn't bother you and you enjoy a sandbox sort of game then this is for you. Hope this helps lol

Yeah, honestly this is Palworld without the pals and base building. Honestly I like the mining and everything more than Palworld...and there is fishing and cooking that is actually fun.

I am having a great time, though more areas and what not are a must. So i can see future content being DLC or worse, subscription to access new areas. Would need to do more with the game to go with a pure cosmetic model, as we do not interact enough.

Something will change and we will all likely complain when it does like always lol.

The catch is that if you care about anything but the default looks, you have to pay (and many outfits are pretty expensive, as well as undyeable). I know people are gonna scream "IT'S JUST COSMETICS", but there's a reason that a ton of MMO players say that glam is endgame. Cosmetics are actually pretty important in multiplayer games. There's a reason companies immediately go to them first for monetization. They're a way for players to express themselves, and have more goals to work for.

However, S6 has made it clear for a long time that there won't be any earnable cosmetics, only paid ones, and that they apparently can't exist alongside each other.

It may not be P2W in the traditional way, but "cosmetics" are more important to people in multiplayer games than a lot of people realize.

EDIT: As well, this game isn't "free". It's F2P with MTX. F2P isn't a charity, it's a business model. S6 came to the conclusion that they'd make more money off of MTX instead of upfront sales or a subscription model.

Palia is completely free to play. Only the cosmetic cost real money. Unfortunately, the prices are too high for my liking.
I like free-to-play games with a cosmetic store. If I enjoy the game, I'm happy to give a little to the developers in this way.
After all, it's better than buying a game that turns out to be a flop after X hours.

My sister and my mom love it, but i find it abit boring too.

I guess its a 'personal taste' type of thing.

The outfits cost 15-50$

Ummm I did not play it on steam... I played it about a year ago on their launcher. I did everything for free.. did not spend any money except what I wanted to get a set of outfits and a dog companion which I think cost me around $20 and I'm ok with that because I played the game like 10 hours a day for 4 days straight but then I had the highest lvl of everything, unlocked all tech and I had a max size house.. so I stopped playing within a week.. still feel like it was fun though.

It's a "Crafting game" with no Tailor profession, enjoy the cash shop

The monetization in this game is less bad than many free games. Notice I said less bad cause all free games feel a little scummy but this is among the best.

You only get a default outfit, and all of the ones in the store look like dog water. The default outfit is pretty dog water as well, so if you want to look less dog watery they expect you to fork over money for more dog water. Not to mention pets, and other things.

The game is not sustainable.

Why choose to look like dog water when you can look like hot dogger. Thank you for reminding me I should grab one of the new hot dog outfits lol. What about pets?

Because it is. S6 states they will never charge us for anything, except for clothing, and only if we choose to purchase said clothing.
