1. Open File Explorer.
2. Navigate to C:\Users\NKitzy\AppData\Local\Palia\Saved\Config\WindowsClient.
3. Press Ctrl + A to select all, then Shift + Delete to permanently delete everything in the folder.
4. Open Steam and navigate to Palia in Library.
5. Right-click Palia and select Properties...
6. Select Installed Files on the left.
7. Click Verify the integrity... on the right.
8. Launch Palia (via Steam) after verifying the game files and maybe it'll work?
I've now contaced Palia support, and now I just wait... Layoffs, what's that meaning? I've read somethings about it, not knowing what i means?
Three Words:
Nope, already done that like a million times - followed a youtube guide aaand just tried verifying it, not working either.
This sucks!
I doubt anyone is going to explain it. It's possible that now the game is running and in a fairly playable state with much of it sorted out there are a lot of design and creation people that just are not needed. It's either in a different stage of development where it needs people for different things like quest creation and world building for new areas etc but not so much for character animations and that sort of stuff.
They might be financially stuffed or all I know but if it is just changing development phase then I am not surprised certain roles are not needed anymore.
I work in mining and when the development phase is done those crews move on and the production crews remain for a long time afterwards. Starts with development, then has dev and prod and finally just production crews. Same but different with games maybe? It's no reflection on the workers and quite normal. Their roles simply end and if the company has no role elsewhere for you then /wave.
Or they have been mismanaged and are broke.
Guess we shall find out in time.
I've done all I could to fix the issue, and still nothing..
I doubt I can solve it for you. It's likely a genuine bug of some sort.
Since you asked I will just quickly list a few go to things I do if games don't start.
After reading this thread I did start it up and to see and mine hung at the first screen for ages before it proceeded to the part where the left goes grey and you can press a button to start. It's always done this so don't stress but usually it's been a lot quicker so maybe your PC is so much better that you never noticed it before. I thought of it as a loading screen. I could be wrong.
Firstly I change it between fullscreen to either windowed or fullscreen windowed or the opposite depending what mode it is in at startup. I find some games do it when it first tries to show 3D graphics but I don't know if this is what this game is doing since that first splashscreen is kind of 3D isn't it? Might need to go looking in the games config files (usually with your save games dir) and change some values. Look for "fullscreen 0" or 1 and swap the values or true/false. Whatever. Might have all 3 resolution options and you might want to swap all values to be safe. Backup the file first.
Then you have the standard drivers comment. Update those properly.
Then you have all your other generic fixes that I really don't understand where you need to change things like 'disable fullscreen optimisations in the PaliaClientSteam file properties in the games dir. Where you set to run as admin.
Then there is your pagefile settings which I know nothing at all about but here is a random google link to something that might give you an idea depending on what operating system you are on. https://www.tomshardware.com/news/how-to-manage-virtual-memory-pagefile-windows-10,36929.html _ I have no clue about this site it's just an example and I also have no inkling if it will help. Seems to help some games.
The real problem is that it worked previously so you gotta ask yourself 'what changed' and I have no answer for you.
Those are just absolutely generic and merely possible solutions. I have not seen or looked into this glitch with this game which is why I did not comment earlier on it.
Google your problem.
If you fiddle then backup first.
Good luck.
I really appreciate your time to answer this!!
I will try and see IF the game screen with Kilima is just a loading screen.
Thanks!!
nothing. nada..
nothing worked. I tried what you said, and I even followed a Youtube thing with 10 different possibilities!! And nothing!! I'm done :(
Sorry my attempted solution didn't work. Palia just really isn't worth reformatting & reinstalling Windows 10/11 for at this point either. Probably never was...
Hopefully you hear back from Palia support and are given a proper solution if you're still willing to play.
