Can you have more fields with additional housing slot?

No, just the 9.

There are only 9 soil plots, and once they're placed, you can't place them anywhere else, even if it's another slot.

you can certainly reset them. Simply harvest it and then put it back into the inventory with G and place it somewhere else (even on a different slot).

but only a maximum of 9 fields are possible, regardless of whether 4 here and 5 there

Yes, that's what I was just saying. You just can't place one soil plot on two different housing slots at the same time.

is there really no way to raise this? I thought for sure farming limit would let me have more. Seems very off in the farming sim game, even if the housing is fantastic. It should be at least x2.5 what it is now, having a big farm literally isn't possible atm and that's just odd

No, it hasn't changed since May, but it doesn't really need to. You don't need money or excess crops that badly.
