Palia

Have these two glaring issues been fixed?
I tried Palia at the beginning of the open beta and I immediately determined that I wasn't gonna be able to play it. I had two glaring issues. (I've played survival games VERY extensively and, based on that experience, I do not see these as "me problems".)

1. Game animals were waaay too sensitive and I could never get close enough to reliably hunt them without scaring them away. Also, I seem to recall there was something off about the aiming system.

2. The fishing minigame was too lengthy and repetitive. I simply couldn't get myself to play it at all.

Seeing as how these are two HUGE parts of Palia, I decided that the game was not for me.

Have they changed anything?

Thanks for any reply.

The fishing I don't have an issue with, but can't tell you if they have changed it since your time in the game.

As to the hunting, its still glitch and bugged. Animals will either graze calmly a foot away from you when they respawn, or they will turn and run when your 100' away. They also run off and change directions at right angles which makes it hard to lead the target when they can just do a 90 degree turn on a dime. They also sometimes run into hills and cliffs and vanish, lol.

Okay, thank you. This is enough for me to know that I still can't play the game. One would think it should be relatively easy to fix hunting. Guess not...

There are a lot of things they should of fixed by now and they haven't. Basic things that any other developer would have made sure were solid before releasing in Beta. These guys have produced 18GB of patches in just the last couple of months and fixed nothing, in fact new glitches have appeared after each patch, lol.

So, yeah, these people should not be in the computer game business :)

Palia is not a survival game.

Animals are not over sensitive but if you go near them they'll run away. This doesn't affect hunting, though. You don't need to get close to them becuase you are hunting with a bow, not with a melee weapon. When you upgrade you bow, it can shoot even further.

Fishing is ok. Gets easier with brews and food and upgarded fishing rod/bobber.

Hunting and fishing are minor aspects of the game, same with bug cathcing.

And yet whether minor or not, they still haven't fixed the hunting issues people have been reporting for months! That the animals disappear into the landscape or simply vanish right in front of you.

I know that it's not a survival game. I said that because survival games have hunting (with a bow) and I have no problems with it. For some reason, Pelia is different. Hunting is very janky and anti-fun.

I've been playing Genshin Impact for 4 years. Genshin has birds you can shoot. They see you from far away. Genshin never ever forced you to farm these, even though they drop a pretty important resource. They give you another way to get it. Why? Inclusiveness and accessibility are pretty simple concepts. You wanna make sure that everyone can play your game regardless of whether or not they have good gamer skills. Player count translates into revenue.

Chill, cozy life-sim or frustrating mess? It's not the same. As evidenced by the heaps of people driven away from the game.

So you're saying that 3 of the 8 skills in the game are minor aspects? Wow.

My only guess they havent played long. you literally cant continue quest without eventually doing them all, ALOT of them all.

The hunting animals still have bugs in their behavior and responses. I have less trouble with chapaa than deer. I still have significant times when magic deer become stuck in rocks and walls, deer that blink out of existence after 1 or 2 hits when they need at least 3, and magic chapaa that blink to be behind me right after I land a first hit. It can be frustrating when it keeps happening.

I have a few hundred hours on Switch. I finished all the quests and all the upgrades and all the bundles etc etc. I don't like bug catching so I don't catch bugs, easy. I wasn't into fishing for a few months so I wasn't fishing. Then I decided to complete the bundles and fished/caught bugs for them. But it was my decision, the game doesn't force you to do anything

Sometimes they take 2 hits because someone else recently did that other hit. They don't have health bars so you never know what damage they do or don't have already. So if they 'vanish' in two hits just look around in case the loot bag is nearby.

I know all that. I'm specifically talking about animals that I already know I'm the ONLY ONE that's hit it. It spawns in front of me, I hit it, it blinks out without the usual sound of being killed, no loot anywhere. It's a bug. Happens more than it should.
