Cash grab is a company getting as much money as they can and then shutting down. Doesn't matter how the money is earned.
Other games being worse is irrelevant to Palia.
If it wasn't the more profitable option, they wouldn't have chosen it.
"BUT LOOK AT THIS OTHER GAME!"
lol
I do think it's wrong to call it a cash grab in that way because I don't think they planned on making a game with the intent to collect money and then shut it down. I think they just suck at making video games.
This should help you get started.
But you also said other games being worse is irrelevant to Palia. Huh.
This. They hired a bunch of high level level to make this game with massive investment. The problem with high level people? They don't work hard to push content, they would rather sit in meetings and take long lunches. That is what happens when you have too many chiefs and not enough worker bees.
Oh, probably wasn't their initial intent but "We're still healthy (even though we fired 80% of our workforce) so please buy our stuff" seems suspicious.
And 100% agree that they (S6 as a whole, not any individual employee) sucks at game development. The investors should have replaced Karabaich and Leung a while ago.
Other games being worse doesn't absolve Palia of being bad. Comparing Wildstar's end to Palia currently. Do you see the difference? You're known for arguing in bad faith here and on the Discord but thinking those are equivalent would be absurd, even for you.
I disagree with that, the only one arguing in bad faith here is you. Funny that you even bring that up since I hardly chat on the discord. But go on.
Edit: Wouldn't be too far off in pointing out that majority of this games discussion is just insane hate watching (hate playing?)
I'll admit to this~
After wanting this game to succeed for so long and offering so much of my time and advice only to be completely ignored, it's a little cathartic to watch the ship sink.
It's still a shame about all the people that actually *cared* about the game quitting / being laid off because of incompetent management. This could have been a great game, but as someone earlier said... too many overpaid higher ups that insist they know what's best despite it failing spectacularly.
I'll second it. I've been rooting for this game for years. Been giving feedback constantly, even though it always fell on deaf ears. The fact that they still market the game as inclusive while ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on the disabled community has made me want the game to fail horrendously. The Discord moderation has been openly hostile to the disabled community. The free replacements after S6 fired the paid moderators to save money are no better. If S6 miraculously fixed the accessibility issues, I'd still recommend my readers not to play the game because it would only be in a last ditch attempt to increase player numbers.
I hope Palia follows every member of management for the rest of their careers.
It made a ton of money to be made. This game screams low effort, and most of the feedback we gave them in testing, they ignored and said no. (earning pets in game being the most stuck up answer they gave.)
It being f2p means nothing, Is this game 50 million dollar quality? Also all it takes is a few extra whales and that is just net profit.
It's like... what... $50 for all the new outfits each month? If these whales bought the entire catalog each month, S6 is still way short of what they need to keep the game running. You buy a couple of the $100 coin packs and you're set for cosmetics for a few months. That's way short of what a single dev brings in for a salary.
I mean sure, but the kick starter made like tons of money already, and any extra they get is just icing on cake.
