If you want to have your friend join you you need to add them as a friend in the game. Find out what their name is then send them a friend request. You should then be able to invite them to your server or vice versa.
*Fishing has boosts when it is done multiplayer
*Everyone shares loot when hunting together in a party
*Mining nodes together means you both get the same nodes (they're instanced unless mined at the same time)
*Hotpot has just been added and is great fun in Zeki's underground! :D
*You can add your friend as an editor on your plot (or they add you) and you can decorate the plot together
*You can join communities which allow you to chat to other users and community focused plots will be coming at some point
*Catching bugs together allows you to catch the same bug
*You can follow the quest line together too if you're new to the game! It's fun to do alone but prob more fun with a friend!
*Cooking uses less resources if you cook together, only one of you needs to have an ingredient, so you'll only use up one but both get the dishes, meaning you can make more gold from it, and enjoy focus boosts quicker because dishes take less time (or decorate with the star quality ones, of course). Cooking is better with friends.
Ultimately you can do a lot of it single player, but it's good fun to be chatting with a friend and enjoy the content together.
As of the last update, my husband and I have been having a hard time connecting as friends.
Sometimes when we go to hit invite, it doesn't seem as it is working. If he can see my dot, but I can't see his.. then I have to log out and back in and it will work. If it is he that can't see my green dot, then he is the one that needs to log out and back in, and it will work. Hopefully they'll fix these glitches shortly.
Once you are partied with your friend, and on the same server, you can view each other's where abouts (except when on home lot), and you can follow each other around and hunt, fish, mine, etc together. You can even visit the friends lot from the blue sign board on your lot to view each others houses and cook together.
If that's what you want then I'd honestly look for a different game cos if you dislike multiplayer games so much, then Palia's not for you since it IS a multiplayer game. I dunno were you read "singleplayer" on the shop page, mine only shows "online-coop" among its many tags. The prominent ones showing on the shop page immediately are "free", "multiplayer" and "life simulation" (translated from German).
