Why aren't people creating more parties for hunting, etc. now
Not sure if this is something people missed in the patch notes, didn't read them, etc. but they made a great change in the 1.80 update:

"Party members will now share loot for most gathering activities.
Players who are near their party members will now receive loot for actions their party members did - so if your friend can one-shot a Sernuk, you’ll share in on the loot. In addition, the loot dropped will be the same across each player. Yes, that includes Plushies! Skills this change applies to:

Woodcutting
Mining
Insect Catching
Hunting"

Maybe it's just the time of day I'm playing at but I can never manage to find anyone doing a proper party for things like plushie hunting, yet there's tons of people running around doing it solo.

I'm not exactly the most social person, but you'd think with how terrible the RNG is on this game that people would want to maximize their chances any way possible.

Id recommand joining discord server, thats usually where I find people to play with, cooking parties, hunting bug catching. You can always hop sever and ask around and I can find people that way too just gotta be specific with the activity and try to find someone that is doing the same.
I play with my fiance and we party every session but we don't often have others in the party unless one of our friends or our son are playing at the same time. We were hunting muujin last night and worked out we had to be 24m or less from each other to get the loot when only one of us hit them. Just in case you didn't know the shortest distance you have to be apart for it to apply :)
not everyone is friend shaped.
That change is more for people that were already creating parties.

Since I can still loot as long as I get at least 1 hit in, I don't have any incentive to join a party.

True. I play more as a solo player than anything else, and I don't like quests I can't finish because I don't have online friends who are interested in the same games I am.
i fish with other players nearby for the weekly quest, you dont need a party for fishing

cooking party didnt work.. i knew too little everything going too fast.. and or didnt have an ingredient. so for cooking party i think you have to learn how to do it on your own slowly and i'm close to lvl 60. I want to see if i can do the most complex cook solo.. or if the game is designed to force team cooking due to time constraints.

as far as hunting etc if i notice an invite i join.. seems the ones wanting/running the parties should do the inviting. otherwise i'm happy with solo i'm a pretty good shot. As far as the wood i have to sell it i have so much.. the magic wood i have more than i will probably ever use. i leave most tree's behind.. bottom line tho is if you want a party .. invite people. Some new people might also not want to be a burden to more advanced people or to be overwhelmed with information.

Yes not all of us want to be grouped up and prefer playing solo. I am one of them because if I need to afk I can do so without holding anyone up.
