Does it really matter whether there is freebie clothing too? Some of the starting clothing is actually nice. Even with the premium items, the coloring is limited to what was provided for that item. Pets are incentive to buy something, but there are even some items in the premium shop that cost less than 10 dollars.
Wouldn't it be worth more to have them add game play over freebie clothes?
(Not shilling, just pointing out that there are ways to earn some things aside from paying money. I do agree there needs to be more options for stuff you can earn in-game because game content > cash shop for me personally.)
Completely agree and I really like how you can gain everything in the game by playing . But if you want to support the game you can make your character a little fancier. I just wish there were better looking skins . Nothing has taken my fancy yet to want to buy even though I want to cos I feel I should.
Its F2P and all cosmetics are locked behind paying money. Honestly I dont have a problem with this. However certain aspects of the game seem F2P level grindy and really dampen the enjoyment for me. So much so Im questioning on continuing to play.
Waiting MINUTES for a SINGLE wood/bar/brick to smelt. Sometimes having to wait HALF AN HOUR to return to your farm. Your tools having Durability and being forced to create repair kits to upkeep them. Just wasting more resources and time. The Focus system is good but man if aint dangerously similar looking to mobile Energy bars.
Something funky is going on behind the scenes of this game identity wise.
Oh boy, more overdramatics.
Having to wait to craft stuff or tend to your garden, this is in other games like Valheim, Minecraft, Conan Exiles, Ark, New World. There are many more games like this that use this sort of system. Palia is labeled has a F2P MMO but feels more along the lines of F2P Co-Op, sure it has some very lite mmo like elements like seeing a server full of other players and server/shout chat.
There's really nothing funky going on as you want to believe there is. If you want something funky that's being going on FOR YEARS that even poptart cat failed to mention. Star Citizen, better known as Scam Citizen. 700 million funded, 12+ years in ALPHA, no release date in sight. That's a huge tech showoff that a lot of people invested so their children's children can maybe play it when they reach their 50s.
It is released. It's not 'beta' they're just using that to excuse releasing an unfinished, buggy game. And this coming from someone who plays it and enjoys the world.
And I think people would complain less about the cosmetics if there was more actual content, and the bugs got fixed. AND the cosmetics didn't cost an arm and a leg.
It doesn't help that that cosmetics are bugged as well (and pretty dang ugly in most cases). I've seen a streamer already having issues with her tool skins changing to colors she doesn't even own, randomly. And the stupid cat tails on the new outfit bug out and flicker all over the screen. Only a matter of time before they get a letter from a lawyer after that triggers a seizure in someone.
This sort of stuff is to be expected in a small team indie game, not a $50 million seed funded studio with supposed AAA devs.
In Valheim charcoal takes 16 seconds per to craft. Ores 30 seconds per to smelt. Give it the ol x2 on charcoal for roughly 1 minute per Bar in Valheim. The most basic of bars is 3 minutes in Palia. Thats 3x the time for a single bar. This adds up quite quickly.
Then you need to consider the other obtuse mechanics. Like having to pay gold to be allowed more crafting stations. With a hard cap of 30. Having to spend MORE resources to upkeep your items with Repair Kits. Then of course a game like Valheim allowing you to sleep and essentially instantly craft everything in queue.
The games fun. Great even. However theres alot of ways they just waste your time. Even worse then one of the most grindy Survival games on the market. Valheim. This is coming from someone who litterally just started replaying it weeks before Palia's release.
Anyway to further answer your previous comment about the other games like League and their $200-$500 skins. LOL just don't buy it, or do. How someone else spends their money is no concern of mine. Yes R6 Siege is pay to play, what game isn't these days besides f2p games? R6 Siege has completely lost its identity with switching from a good tactical fps to the generic hero shooter with as you said, a season pass, a battle pass, a shop, and now this premium membership. But don't worry the new operation will be a AAAA operation. :) And what was the other game you mentioned? OW 2.0? How's that PvE game mode going that they said they would do?
It's very disingenuous that you compare these types of games with a game like Palia, when the only real controversial issue is the slightly pricey OPTIONAL premium shop. But reading your past comments have been rather entertaining since you said you don't even play the game anymore, so why does your opinions for something like this matter?
