Because these aren't "rules", just a common behavior. Trust me when I say, you've only scraped the surface here. Things get a lot uglier once you peel off the scab.
I play on Switch and the closest I've ever seen to rudeness or ugliness is when people post in chat in languages other than English. And that's entirely on me for being a weak-minded monoligual. That's not even any kind of rude or ugly.
But if you can get past it the game is quite fun to play.
The Palia community consists of 99% bad players.
The pallium spot is besieged by farmers and you have no chance of getting pallium. Nobody bothers. And Pallium is just as rare as the pretty purple trees.
My advice to you:
Play the game with your girlfriend, help each other because you can't expect any help from the Palia community. But not from the Puplishers either.
If you see a tree and you can cut it down, THEN CUT IT DOWN.
Don't wait for other players, because everyone with a good ax will fell the trees alone.
Don't worry, put the annoying players on your block list and enjoy the game for yourself.
Funnily enough, 99% of the players I've encountered have been great. They're friendly, helpful, and communicative. That 99% of players are happy to stand around in groups of 12+ waiting until an agreed time to cut down flow trees to make sure that everyone who has expressed interest in getting some of that flow-infused wood has a chance to get there and get a hit in.
I can't comment on people calling out palium nodes because, now that they behave like most other forageables, people don't tend to wait around before mining them. More players than not, though, tend to call them out and flare them for others to find.
All that being said, I'm not trying to say that your experiences of 'bad players' is a lie, just that it feels like the claim I quoted seems a bit excessive. Or you just end up having REALLY bad luck regarding the players you encounter. I'm sure there are a number of 'bad players', there always is with MMOs, I just haven't experienced anywhere NEAR that number of them.
Hopefully they change them to be like other resources. Otherwise their own game systems are going to foster toxic communities, because they already are.
I lol'ed at how true this is.
Palia is a game made for people that don't play video games. If there's ever any form of skill expression or effort required for anything, S6 removes it.
Except the grind for flow trees and Palium. Gotta keep that grind in so people keep playing their game, because there's nothing else to do after about 20 hours.
Because people would then progress much faster and would be finished with the little content so quickly that the number of players would continue to decline. The Steam release is the last attempt to get money out of people's pockets. The game will be over in 1 year at the latest, with luck it will be put into a kind of "maintenance mode".
Eww. The dog-walker was drunk.
This sounded rather interesting. Never heard of an AI that helped find people.
