Why isn't this game in 'Early Access' or described as 'Beta' ?
Palia is in a barely-beta state, why isn't it flagged as Early Access?

Players have the right to know that every update is a completely buggy mess. For example, this recent update exposed placeholder green cylinders that were on spawn points all over the map. Not exactly what I'd call a stable game.

Edit:

Why is this important?
Palia has always been in an endless state of buggy releases and server issues. I think new players should understand the realistic state of the game, and be informed that it's beta before making any macro-transaction purchases.

For example, on steam release day a patch was 2 hours late, which delayed the go-live on steam, and introduced serious bugs such as the removal of the flow grove spawning. This sort of mess is acceptable on a beta game, but not so much on a game being marketed as a full and stable release. You can already see with the wopping 48% negative reviews, that many new steam users encountered serious bugs and immediately quit and downvoted the game.

So you hate Palia?
No I've played probably 100+ hours of Palia.
Being open and transparent about being in beta and struggling with any sort of stability or consistency earns the company and the game a greater user/player sentiment then trying to hide that fact and have new players learn the hard way.

Why are you banned from the Palia Discord?
To dispel any rumors I want to clarify I was banned from Palia because I used a poor choice of words when I said in response to a very aggressive' well the game is in beta so stop complaining' post directed at a new steam users

"S6 willingly ad specifically left any mention of beta out of the steam page so maybe lets not fall back on this one anymore when not even s6 is using it."

I was discussing the specific differences between how I stated this and the fact that this was not included in the Steam page but S6's website still calls it beta, and how to navigate those conversations to avoid any miscommunication, and was banned mid-conversation.

So I am just as confused as the people coming here asking me about it why I was banned for this.

not stating that the game is beta, and scrubbing the beta tag from everything but the pc launcher is obviously scummy. You don't need steam account level 1 to figure that out.

Why is it scummy? Because without it you present the game as 'finished' and 'stable'. One look in palia-status in the discord is enough to tell that the game is alpha level stability.
Don't even get me started on why its scummy with all the bugs swarming around :cozyroe:

On steam, "early access" doesn't mean much of anything. I've seen games stuck in early access for YEARS.

Early access and beta are two separate things. If you know which is which, good for you. If not, then stop spreading misinformation with acting like you know what state every game should be in.

You're right! Palia *is* in beta!

Which means it's even worse that they're choosing to release without a warning to prospective players, because they literally don't have the programming team necessary to keep this game afloat for much longer.

They added in a new huntable species a few months back, and then somehow accidentally deleted them from the game and have been unable to reimplement them for weeks now.

I want you to read this reply carefully since I'm about to invalidate your whole argument here. It shows you that it's in beta on the launcher and on the log in screen. You would know this if you actually played the game.

You can even ask people here who have also actually played the game if the game is early access, open beta, or fully released (v1.0+). Majority of them will tell you its in open beta.

Also going to clarify for a lot of people that seem to misunderstand the term early access. It's just another term for saying a game is in its alpha stage. Example; "The game is in early access" meaning "The game is in alpha."

Once again, you're correct! It *does* show you it's in beta on the launcher and login screen! That still requires people to download the game before they find out that fact, which A) artificially pads their download numbers and B) is probably going to bite them in the ass when the negative reviews come in about how the game is a bug-ridden disaster.

By the way, I was in the first wave of pre-alpha players back in July 2021. I've put in hundreds of hours across multiple playtests and have written pages upon pages of feedback. So thanks, I *have* played the game. Once upon a time I thought Palia would be the ultimate game for me, but I realized the company just can't deliver on the promises they make.

The game needed a lot more time to cook before it went live, and I'm worried the steam reviews are gonna be the last nail in the coffin once they finally get out of the small echo chamber they've built.

Please don't be so condescending.

The definition of early access as per Steam:

Early Access enables you to sell your game on Steam while it is still being developed, and provides context to customers that a product should be considered "unfinished." Early Access is a place for games that are in a playable alpha or beta state, are worth the current value of the playable build, and that you plan to continue to develop for release.

So no, there's no misunderstanding.

I've been playing Palia since closed beta and it meets the definition of Early Access and given the contuine poor quality builds they are releasing, misleading consumers into thinking this a finished or polished game will only hurt the success of this game.

Honesty is more important then whatever offense you have about the terminology.

This is rich hearing you say oh please don't be so condescending while I also do just that with copy pasting Steams description of what Early Access means to them. The reality is it doesn't matter how Palia releases on Steam, early access tag or not, people will know its an open beta by using their eyes or actually reading this game discussion past the screaming children just spamming how Palia is some how pay to win with their premium shop for different outfits and glider skins.

Now the question if the beta of Palia is any good, that's an entirely different question that does not fit in this thread. I'll personally say no but it was a lot better than the closed beta and alpha tests before. And you should definitely expect hiccups along the way to its full release, when ever that'll be. But do try to set yourself some real expectations, it might do you some good for once. And to further "condescend" you. It's always you alpha and beta players acting like the game devs betrayed you when they add or change something you don't like. Always with you all. Game is free to play, nice I like that. Game adds an optional way to support the devs with a non predatory premium shop, What the ♥♥♥♥ is this?! Devs suck, games dead. Game adds nice events, oh my god this is so boring and the fomo and people stealing my chapaas! This is suppose to be my safe cozy game!

Just stop. There are games out there more popular than Palia and with way worse monetization. For example, Halo Infinite, Destiny 2, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Valorants shop anyone? Oh, that's fine because it's also free to play, Fortnite, Call of Duty Warzone, Overwatch 2, Dead by Daylight, and what else? Oh add Diablo 4 in there too!

If you don't like the way a game studio is running things with their game, just shut up and go do something else. Come back later and see if it changed at all. Again, its always the old guard players, and some new clueless ones too, that just set their expectations way too high, burn themselves, then gets all pissy at the devs and community. Just go away if your whole attitude is to just be constantly negative about everything the game has. Lol. :espresso:

Anyway I've entertained whatever this conversation is long enough. Have fun with whatever game you play, whether it be this one or something else.

Doesn't exactly help your point to flat out lie to people.

Hurts the credibility somewhat.

Explaining to you that Early Access by definition includes beta, when you stated it doesn't, isn't being condescending, it's just being factual.

I'm not going to engage with you if you're going to be disingenuous. Nowhere in my criticism of the misleading advertisement of the game, am I being 'constantly negative about everything' I didn't even say being early access was a bad thing. In fact I think the transparency earns the company good sentiment with the community and by lying to consumers they are going to only hurt themselves, so I think you're confused what the topic of conversation is if you think 'negativity' is whats being discussed. No one said any of the things you rambled on about. We just said the builds are buggy, I'm sorry, but they are. You can't present a game as a stable release the same patch you delete and entire mob from existence and leave placeholder green cylinders all over the map...

No, you weren't. Looks like you might have been in the start of Closed Beta, from your repeated referral code posts in early July. Seems like an odd thing to lie about.

Yes very odd especially if you use the same username is discord it's obvious you weren't in alpha.

The entire problem here is lying about the game so coming here to further lie is probably not the defense you think it is...

And what about on Swtich? It does NOT say that it is beta or early access anywhere on the Nintendo store page or on the login screen.

I am not sure about that, actually.
If you check ArenaNet's flagship game, Guild Wars 2, the Palia team can actually deal with the lack of content, barely funcional game and inexperienced dev team that changes both employees and direction every other year and still have a thriving game IF the community get enough attachment and get that sweet sunken cost for all the time and money spent in the game. :MFF_Echo:

I don't own a switch, can't comment on what I don't have.
