Have a question before I try this out.
So I'm seeing some conflicting info on here, and I just want an answer. I'm seeing the words "time gated" on here, and I need to know what is meant by that. Are we talking crafting stations that take real world time to finish? An energy system that takes real world time to replenish? Something else?

I ask because I frankly hate F2P games that prevent player progression through these methods. I don't mind if there is a soft "subscription" ala Elder Scrolls Online or something like that, but paying to be allowed to progress is across my personal line.

Well, you can expand your plot with ingame money to put down more crafting stations. Its not serious. Just explore while they are doing their job. Do quests and so on. You can also uninstall unneeded crafting stations if not needed. For e.g. i needed a hugh ammount of bricks so i installed some furnices. After having the neccesary ammount i stored the stations in my boxes and installed some sawing mills cuz i needed a lot of wood. In the meantime i went fishing and giving the NPCs their desired items to raise the relations with the npcs

The only time gate is building your house that takes 8 hours but it doesn't stop you from progressing

These are the list of items[palia.wiki.gg] that require real-time to build. It's all housing stuff. Want to add a new room to your house? It'll be 4 - 8 hours.

It's easy to circumvent. There are plenty of other things you can go do in the game, or you can build overnight and come back to it the next day.

Building your house and some stations needs real world time to finish. It does not prevent you from doing quests, farming, mining, hunting etc during that time.
Plus, there is no way to speed up the process at all. The only thing that you can purchase with real life money in the game are cosmetics and they don't give bonuses at all

Excellent, thank you guys. I'm glad there's no way to speed up timers through money. That would have been a deal breaker.
Honestly, I wouldn't say the "time gating" is no worse than the likes of animal crossing or stardew valley. Some crafting/building DOES take time, but there's so much to do (at least for the first few weeks) that it doesn't really matter.

That said, it's pretty frustrating how long each day lasts. Shops don't "close" per se, but there are some quests that can only be done during a certain span of hours.
