Is there a certain upgrade to get rid of the engine light and stop the car from overheating too fast?

You could try to upgrade the cooling. There are a few good guides made that go over various game mechanics, including engine health

You either 1) buy a new, better condition car, 2) repair the engine, or 3) replace the engine (in the full release)

I think I figured it out now. Its got a lot with my cooling percentage based on the parts I installed.
