I want to Love it
I play many games with these similar qualities and WOW it sure does jump quickly and steeply, I get smashed on the second map within 1 day. The number and severity of minions just doesn't seem to fit a second map, Let alone the first one. It just seems to be designed to slam you into the ground as soon as possible. I feel like I may be missing something because ever play through is a struggle and it makes me more frustrated than entertained. Thoughts and tips?

Farming coins and upgrade towers are passives is needed. But it's a hard game.
Ballista set on primary target shield and stay on target then Hidden spikes goes a long way. Catapult is good as well vs shields after the last update

Same. The miners seem to operate at a set rate regardless of how many resources are around them; I had a lumber mill with 6 or 7 trees in range and it sill only operated at 30/min. With base towers being 50 wood, I never had enough resources. I constantly had to hand-mine, even with 3 mills operating on wood (and one doing planks). Towers are really expensive, resources mine very slowly, and minion health seems to go from reasonable to unreasonable quite quickly.

Its fun, has promise, but needs quite a few balance passes before I'd pay for it.

That's on you I'm afraid, the mining speed is fixed, the sources is just how much you can mine, not how fast. You need to build more, I usually have 6-8 mills, each pair having 3 loggers.

even with having multiple mills and stuff, I can't beat the second map still. It is hard to even expand enough to see anything, I cant even get to where i can use my tier 2 buildings at all just yet., So I am farming map 1, but even then it gets rough. lol Definitely trying to up my game each time though.

Posted a series of screenshots beating the map 2. I do have everything maxed but might help some with some adjustment. Check my profile then screenshots on Tower Factory, tried to cover recourse gathering and defense.
Did some manual farming while waiting.
Crossbow settings are most shields/furthest traveled and keep target.
Catapult setting is most shield without keeping the target.

there's a keep target button? damn I don't remember seeing that that seems bad unless it's the power crystal tower that needs to keep the target.
anyway yeah the game is outright impossible until you get upgrades, I noticed that in the demo I'm not sure you could win even if you played perfectly when you don't have enough upgrades. The best thing you can do on a new stage is to get coin chests, but it's fun at least seeing how far you can get anyway.
