It on xbox one.
Preferred tactics after 2ish years of play:
-Buy chainsaw asap
-dont deploy any defenses until at least night 6 (or after you can get an advanced auto turret with a pistol)
-only buy advanced auto turrets. They shoot faster and have more health than regular turrets. Only arm them with pistols until about wave 12 (save your ammo as pistols are free). If done right you should have at least 4 turrets by around then. If you have to choose between a turret and a new gun due to low cash, always get the turret (it will always boost your defense with a free pistol on it).
-limit your arsenal to only 1 gun type (and buy it as soon as it goes on sale). The game only spawns ammo for guns you own. My buddy and i only use snipers as they are accurate, only 6k on sale, do good damage, penetrate multiple enemies, and shoot pretty fast on advanced turrets. Its critical your team only uses the same guns as your turrets. A turrets with no ammo stops shooting and is useless. Everyone using same gun means ammo is universal (only 1 type necessary to buy between waves), and any enemies who drop bullets always feed your turrets. If ammo runs low, have your team use pistols only to save ammo for turrets (they are more accurate than you and will cover your butt if you run out for pickups).
-zombies are drawn to whatever barricades are closesest to the edge if the map. If you have your core defense set, extend the corners out in an X pattern as far as you can go. The zombies will always destroy this before Getting to your core and your turrets will kill them while they destroy less critical defense.
- Anytime you can put double barricades in your x pattern and drop landmines in the spaces between. Unlike explosive barricades, a player can run over a landmine. This lets you make checkered patterns to run for ammo/supplies between barricades, and if one falls the landmine gives you some breathing room and takes out enemies as the push forward.
-i usually host and max out pickup range first. That means my role is grabbing items. Anyone else on your team should max out health first (survival). On xbox theres a handy reset. The host cant leave the game, but anyone else playing can leave and when they rejoin, they can reallocate skill points (so non host players focus on survival early waves, then respawn later and can max out reload or whateber they please on reentry)
-teslas are supposedly the best, but i find their lack of range means too many defense (and the turret) are too easily exposed. Lasers have awesome range and damage, but much like other weapons, they are expensive (and ammo too). Even if you get things on sale, you can usually get a sniper plus an autoturret for less than a power weapon alone. That means you for the cost of one laser+turret, you can have about 2 snipers+2 autoturrets. They do less damage but shoot faster, full screen, and penetrate multiple enemies. That means you can have about double the guns for the cost, and (until i can find more specific weapon breakdown) they are super accurate with more Damage per second
