Hard stuck on a boss. Party feels too weak.
I am stuck on Baramos. My party is hero, mage, priest, and thief and I feel extremely weak at level 38. Do I need to change classes at this point because my thief feels extremely useless but he's helpful for finding chests.

Lack of class-changing will definitely lead to a weaker party. Just one class change per member is enough to make Baramos easy with a level 33ish Hero on Draconian. The Thief especially doesn't even have much of a reason to stay on past level 33 when they learn their last skill(though to be perfectly honest, the last skill is pretty crap so they're ready to change at level 29 even). Also there's no reason not to at least make a Sage immediately at level 20. You definitely made things harder for yourself but you can probably get by. Have you gone around and picked up useful equipment like the Duplic Hat? That can be a game changer. Also it's common sense but make sure you're equipping armor that reduces damage from the kind of attacks he uses and use spells like Magic Barrier and Insulatle.

Class changing and grinding back up is always a last ditch option.

Use a Snooze Stick every turn, when possible.

No, seriously.
I have pretty much all the best gear I can use at this point and have been using magic barrier and insulate. My thief pretty much is just there to be there and can barely pull off any damage. Should I change my mage or priest to a sage?
The duplic hat did it for me. Thank you for that. I don't know why I wasn't using this sooner lmao. Guess now I need to figure out who I want to class change because I'm just scraping by right now.
You can still use padfoot, nose for treasure, persecutter, etc if you change the thief's class to something else. Honestly I would switch everyone's classes to another just so they get more stats and learn new abilities. You could change your thief to a sage, for example, and have them learn all the spells while still keeping thief skills like hypnowhip and padfoot.
Switching to Sage early is helpful because they require more experience than most other classes. They get all the Priest and Mage spells so there's no downside other than having to look at the weird poncho they walk around in.

Thief is another matter entirely. As a starting class they suck against bosses. You're 100% right. What they're good at is utility skills. Padfoot is my best friend and I couldn't play the game without Nose For Treasure. Stealing items is also the most reliable source of stat seeds. Where Thieves really shine is as a second or third class because then they've got a
bunch of combat abilities or spells pre-installed.

Here's the catch: even when you start switching classes around, it's very important to always have a Thief in the party for those seed drops.

People are going to think I've got a brain injury, but I would turn your Thief into a Sage and turn the Mage into a Thief. That way your Sage will end up as a super-fast healer that almost always goes first. Late game a fast Sage with the Meteor Band can Puff to semi-reliably kill groups of Liquid Metal Slimes. The Mage-turned-Thief will now have area attack spells, Insulate, Kabuff, Kasap, Magic Barrier, Oomph, etc etc. All the buff and debuff busy work that casters need to juggle on boss fights.
What would be the quickest way to bring them all back to my current level?
The good news is that you don't need to bring them up to your current level for them to be effective against bosses. Characters keep half their stats when they switch classes, so a level 38 Thief that turns into a level 1 Sage starts with the stats of a level 19 character. They should be ready to fight Baramos around level 15 to 20. Grinding that out shouldn't take long at all.

Keep in mind stat growth isn't 100% linear so your mileage may vary. High Wisdom helps characters learn spells at earlier levels. Save your seeds till late game if possible.

Necrogond has a free inn and liquid metal slimes so that would be my suggestion. Generally the best place to gain levels is the strongest group of monsters you can reliably kill in one turn. That's going to be a judgement call on your part. The goal is to maximize EXP per minute spent grinding, not necessarily to fight the hardest stuff available.
If I level them up a bit and switch again will the stats keep stacking up?
Yeah they keep getting more powerful. It really comes down to how much time you want to put into it. I don't think there's much benefit past the first or second class swap. Stats end up being less important than gear or party composition with the exception of maybe the super secret post game boss.
So let's say I switch to a class then switch to another then I want to switch back to the first class...will that still be the level it was before I switched initially or will that put it back to level 1?
Eh I eventually beat Baramose with three plain gadabouts. Oomph powder, air slash, and asbestos earrings were the main things that I needed.
It did help that each party member had about 300 luck. It helped that eggon stacks with oomph. It was also good that the gadabouts all knew hustle dance for a party heal. You don't nessasarily have to class change.

When you change classes you go back to level 1, even if you've been that class before. When you class change you keep ALL the points that character has added from seeds, and about half of their other stat points. You get to keep all the spells and abilities, which can make some nice combos.

Personally I'd swap the Thief into Sage, The Mage into Monster Wrangler, and then swap the priest either into the Warrior, or Martial Artist. This would give you 3 characters with good healing, and the wrangler able to do some minor healing, 2 characters able to cast Oomph, the Wrangler to collect the Friendly Monsters and the bonuses that unlocks.

Warrior would be a slow character, with heavy armor and physical damage, while the Martial Artist would be a VERY fast character with major gear restrictions, but massive chances to crit. With that character previously being a Priest it allows you to either heal later in the turn or heal quickly at the start of a new turn.
Yeah, I found Baramos rather challenging with 2/3 guys class-changed--my casters. My Hero's best DPS was Zapple and my warrior type (solo class Merchant) was nearly useless. My back line (Marital Artist>Thief>Mage and Monster Wrangler>Gadabout>Priest) was doing mostly what they are in their final class.

My strongest attack power is my Mage with about 260, off a Strength of 167, wasn't a terrible shot in that fight, but his magic was much stronger as you've no doubt discovered.
I kinda feel I bricked my run at this point. I pushed on to the tower of rubiss and just flat out cannot kill that boss. Wipes me in about 2-3 rounds no matter what I do. Sure I can just stop and grind from level 1 again but I'm not even in the post game yet so doing this will take a bit. Also if I plan on finishing post game that would require a ton more grinding. I should have class changed sooner so I leveled naturally.
