Ok, so you don't like it. You're allowed to not like a creative decision, but that doesn't make it bad. I for one enjoy the puns.

That would have gotten plenty of push back as well, as shown by Starfield.

So what you're saying is, you DON'T want the game the developers chose to release, you want something different from what the game's creators want you to have?

Which is fine, by the way, I mod the hell out of games I play. But it's wild to insist that the game needs to be accurate to what the developers made while also screaming that you won't play it until it's not accurate to what the developers made.
There's nothing wrong with wanting a remake's visual designs and writing to be more authentic to the original source, especially if certain elements were unnecessarily altered for dumb or straight up whackadoodle reasons.

i'm sorry but alot of what you probably think are silly things done by the translation team.. were probably in the original japanese. your fan translated version you played before was probably badly translated where they changed things just to not be silly..

this is dragon quest ma'dude.. this is the francise where all of the creatures have these big happy grins while you're murdering them.. and most of them look like jello put into a hershys kiss mold

Or it could've gone unnoticed, like with BG3. OR it would've received praise for actually trying to give more players more options. Guess we'll never know now, since they didn't give us any mix and matching options.

Huh? I'm referring to more than one person. Singular they/them only makes sense to use when people are referring to a person that's not known. "Who's backpack is this? I wonder where they are?" You could also just simply say "I wonder where he or she is?". If someone is obviously referring to a group of people, then it's "I wonder where they are?".

It's also used when you don't know the person's name, in the example above.

Example 2: "This is my daughter's phone. Can you hand it to them for me? Thank you."

It's known when you know the person, too!

All are grammatically correct. What you're arguing at this point is stylistic and at the behest of the writer.

The School of WIKIPEDIA. All Bow down to WIKI WOOKI PEDIA.

WIKIPEDIA couldn't give a rats behind about common usage and context. They will slap together some B.S. they found in a grammar book and throw up in their article. So what?

There's a lot of grammar rules that are intentionally violated by famous authors who write to "Common Usage" instead of strict grammar that may or may not be correct grammar (debatable).

There are countless rules of grammar that are up for debate. Some would argue that you should NEVER put a period at the end of a sentence where a bullet point is used. Others would say it is optional to do so.

I can go on and on and on. Strict grammar talk is garbage. This is a fictional work of art of a Mother talking about waking her son or daughter. Not her THEM.

I never cited where I pulled my knowledge. Probably because I'm a native English speaker, and what I'm talking about is commonly taught. Singular they/them has been in use since 1375, by my studies.

You're still confusing grammar vs style. It's a classic argument. But you SHOULD be arguing whether it's grammar vs style, if you want anyone to take you seriously.

"This is my daughter, can you hand them their phone?" Still correct, btw. No refutation, because you know it's correct.

"This is my son, can you wake them up?" Again, correct and stylistically without any real issue. It's just common verbage.

it's perfectly acceptible to use they or them for people who are of a binary gender even if you know that gender and know the person

in fact 90% of the time it's more proper to do that than say he or she

It's correct to use, but it's not more proper. That is going to differ from person to person. If you have someone like me that gives no F's about A's or B's, then it won't matter to me. If you have someone who is super sensitive about their A's and B's, you may run into issues. And everything in between. I look forward to your kind reply.

actually it is proper

"do you know who dropped this phone?"

"oh yeah that's my daughter nikki's phone. she'll be happy to get it back. they're wandering about looking for it. i can take it and give it to her when she gets back"

actual conversation from the other day.. at the walmart.. when i lost my phone

Right. But you said MORE proper, hence my reply about how that will differ from individual to individual.

the use of them by your own mother is literal brain rot. it can be correct by english standards but they way it was said was really cringe. no one really speaks like that and if you say you do your not a parent your just a troll trying to justify the bad translation here. no one is attacking your lgbt ness were all here wanting the best out of a game we are passionate about. changing things to be modern thinking has and will always ruin the said product. make new storys new games for said modernizations.

You don't refer to a dude (man) as 'they' when you've just called them a dude.
Same with the daughter example. You'd say 'can you hand it to her for me?'

You already stated the gender so you wouldn't start referring to a single person with a plural noun.

It's not brain-rot, just somewhat weak localization. It's a correct way to write the sentence, but there are more specific terms that could be used to strengthen the writing style. I have no idea where you are going with the other stuff.

Isn't "guys" used as neutral?
