Draconian difficulty letdown
Coming from being an early 90s Dragon warrior 1-4 nes player, I really hoped the hardest difficulty would be more grindy like the original but it's still a button smasher like the Game Boy remakes of the past.
The enemies need more damage, the player mp consumption needs to be higher and refreshing HP/mp on level ups is a terrible design for the "hardest difficulty" , also what happened to the excellent strategy inducing combat design of attacking no other targets if/when the one you choose is no longer available? I strongly disagree with the brainless combat system where it doesn't matter as much whom you assign to who, bring that back please on Draconian quest and leave the easy hand holding for the first two difficulties. I would also suggest removing quest markers and difficulty switching on Draconian quest to make it what it should be.
Thanks Devs, still an impressive remake visually.

The enemies are doing more than enough damage. This is just your nostalgia googles speaking here, sorry to tell you that fact.
I'm on normal, and around the Abbey, I am forced to heal off battle because enemies constantly drop me to half HP. So no, enemy damage doesn't need adjusting.
MP consumption, is not the issue. The issue is the insane amount of MP that mages get.
The full heal on levelling is absolutely a design choice that I would have locked to the easiest difficulty setting.
The entire concept of characters not switching target, is an archaic design that does not need to come back. It's absolutely illogical.
Quest markers and objective displaying on screen CAN be removed... It's a literal option.
Your complaining about difficulty switching is irrelevant. If you play on a difficulty setting, just don't switch? Problem solved.

They are even doing this on normal, also right around the same spot. It's a good thing Hero gets Midheal at like level 18 because it's pretty needed.

Yeah, I am on normal, around level 20-21 and ♥♥♥♥ still hurts. There are no issues with the enemy damage that I can see. More would just be absurd and require unreasonable grinding.
It's just that they made the early game way too easy compared to the other versions of the game, and it gives a false sense of security.

If your looking for a good, old school style rpg that is hard off the bat (as in, you need to run away if you get more then 2 or 3 slimes in your first fight or your dead at the very start of the game) on the hardest setting, i recommend this game. Long, old school style, new game + system, and its straight up impossible to beat the "secret bosses" on the first play through on the hardest setting. You need to legit beat the game a few time's to get some of the "secret items" or grind a ton to kill them.

Also has an expansion where your team carries over to the next game and the dev made a downloadable strategy guide to go with it and the first version ive linked below too (has some insane puzzle's in it).

But can confirm from googling from posts on other forum site's that the game does get harder on draconian setting past the starting area. Might be wise to give it a bit more of a go and get out of the starting area from what ive been reading online on other site's.

Yeah I notice the restore mp on level up immediately and the vibe was off. Luckily we are on PC and modders are already going to town.

I am so going to double dip on this game. When I have more money, i'll be grabbing it on Steam too for the mods and achievements

There are no conceivable way that I am not giving them all my monnies for these remakes. This is what I want to see more of.

Sounds like you haven't made it off the starting island. Trust me, it gets hard. The Draconian difficulty is (subjectively) a bit more difficult than the original. Bosses are definitely more difficult than the original (on the hardest difficulty).

I'm really loving this game!

Consider using random personalities. If your hero and other melee fighters are all Paragon personality (140% strength growth on level up) then of course the game will be easy. Use other personalities focus on agility or resilience instead of strength if you don't want to do random. Or start random and look for books and accessories to improve your personalities from there.
The stat growth modifiers from personality have a major impact on this game.

I cannot imagine this game getting hard later with how many seeds i am drowning in and how much equipment inventory they just throw at you in this version of the game.

hmmmm, what is the enjoyment in making it harder if you can simply solve it by grinding more levels and solve the obstacle? I feel making it harder not gonna do much beside u leveling more. if you wanna make it harder for yourself go without equipment or go full clown team or do solo run with hero only or other challenges.

The only thing I agree on is changing difficulty BACK to Draconian, it should only go down and not up, with an achievements for draconian for slight external reward enjoyment like a trophy u look at in a shelf and makes u smile.

Yeah it is unreal how many free seeds and free equipment upgrades you get just checking shiny spots on the world map. There is really no need at all to even buy anything from the shops. They went overboard on this aspect.

You're really high on something to think Draconian is even half as difficult as the original. I never had one person die on draconian.

The 'Necrogond spot' still works if you want to fight stuff like the Frost Clouds, Minidemons, and Trolls as soon as you get the ship. Couldn't get the Dragon Queen's Castle spot NE of Romaria to trigger.
