Monster Wrangler
How do the Monster Wranglers learn new skills? it it based on the number of monster wrangled, the level of the wrangler, getting attacked by an ability by a monster (ala the Blue Mage from Final Fantasy) or by some other method? So far I only have the lick skill.

I dont know, I've levelled up my wrangler to level 7 already and still no skills, and also havent wrangled any monsters either.

How do monsters become wrangled?

I'm not sure of that either. Are you sure you don't have at least the lick skill? My wrangler came with that one.

Some from leveling and some from the amount of friendly monster you recruited.

For example getting 10 friendly monster will get you a new ability once you do battle and win once.

How to recruit friendly monster?
You get your first one from the story. The rest you find, either you have a monster wrangler and can walk right up to the monster, or if you don't have a monster wrangler, you need to use a item or ability that will mask certain senses, like smells footsteps, ect. Also some moneters only come out during the day, dusk, or night.

So monsters are not recruited as a part of battle, but from seeing them walking around in towns / dungeons/ overworld?

Well they usually just standing there, but yes.

There’s a guide to recruit all of them. Pretty useful

soooo... has anybody caught a metal slime or babble? or who have monster ranglers caught them yet?
Melodia Nov 15, 2024 @ 7:01pm
The monsters are pre-set in specific places, so if there's a Metal they are likely in some really obscure spot.

sadly, the 'monster wrangler' only gets more skills the more monsters you find for the old man.

It's stupid. They SHOULD have made it so that you can capture and train any monster you want, but that would have taken too much effort to program, so they gave us a watered down useless blue mage type class and a watered down useless monster arena with monsters you dont get to train or name.
zebulous_newt Nov 15, 2024 @ 8:09pm
So each catch-able monster is unique? They don't reappear once wrangled?
This isn't like Pokemon Go where you catch 100 of the same critter to get a reward?
Though you are trying to fill up a pokedex because the professor will give you new abilities.
Is GameFreak gonna sue SquareEnix once they finish suing Palworld?
Ralcrow Nov 15, 2024 @ 8:12pm
There's fixed places where 120 findable monsters are hiding. It's always going to be the exact same ones, with the exact same names. You don't get to collect them, train them, name them or any of that. It's just you find the ones they hid for you to find, and you get to watch the monsters THEY chose for you to find fight it out in the colisseum independently of your influence.

It was a lazy choice from the programmers designed to remove fun from the game

Useless blue mage type class?

Dude, it's one of the most overpowered classes in the game. The entire reason they tied tit to catching monsters is because they wanted to make you earn it. The class is a huge contributor of getting through Draconian/Hard Mode.

Yeah, useless because what I had hoped for was a class that actually enabled me to capture and train monsters. Shoulda called it Monster Finder, cause you dont even get to NAME them.

Draconian mode is a joke in a game where the drop rate for stat seeds is increased to a degree that we can call this Dragon Quest 3: Fisher Price Remake
