I can understand boycotting junk like Dragon Age: The Veilguard, but I think this game is far more nuanced.
That's BS - This isn't the second dragon quest game that came out here - If it was you'd have an argument.
Their not as bad as EA, also considering DQ is one of the biggest franchises over here, this game not selling would be because of an issue with the game - DEI and price point would be that issue. This isn't a brand new franchise their trying to sell.
DQ3 HD-2D is doing about as well as many other niche jrpgs do on steam. Around the same. It's fine.
Sorry this isn't 1990's -DQXI sold MORE units overseas then in Japan.
Last I checked it was 5m copies in Japan, and 6m worldwide. That was in 2021
Considering how small Japan is compared to the rest of the world. I'd argue it is still Niche outside of Japan, where in japan it is one of their best sellers.
Even if it sold more Worldwide.
This game won't get close to those numbers worldwide, I doubt even in Japan, because it is just a remake.
DQ12 though will sell incredibly well when it drops.
Luckily we westerners have a pretty devoted fanbase! I’m hoping this title sells well (or better than their expectations at least). Releasing on so many platforms is a great start.
Yes I agree.
I'm still bitter we didn't get any of the DQ X love over here though.
DQ3 HD-2D is already doing better than Octopath Traveler 2. It likely cost less to make than that game too. It's fine.
It only takes 1 major game in order to bring a franchise out of your "Niche" state - It depends on the creators to keep that thunder going - however considering some of you are SE shills - I can see why they overcharge their games now.
IDC you said your buying it to show support to SE to one of their franchises - That's 100% shill talk - If you buy their games at full price and everything else - they'll think that it's acceptable the things that aren't acceptable in their games/pricing.
But hey that imaginary goblin monster in your head says otherwise.
