So what do books do?

in med with an old man who says that there are books in the world that can change your entire personality and i think i found two of them. and i ask what does personality do in game. Does it pertain to classes or some secret stat or something?

Books are used as a way to store information and then convey it to others. Back in the day, one could go to a place called a "library" and "check out" these books for a short period, and for no cost. What you're supposed to do with such a thing is "read" the book and try to "learn" what is inside it.

do people not read the personality descriptions when making their party?

"this character has the WIT personality, people with THIS personality have their wisdom increased very fast compared to others"

"this character has XXXX personality = insert positives and negatives of personality"

its literally yelled at you when making your party, so howcome so many people are confused on what it does?
