It's only the English versions of games that get butchered. The original is usually untouched. It's the case in most games that do this "body type A or B" nonsense. If you change the language to something other than English, it just says male/female.
Hmm. According to these pictures, it's the English version that added a notice describing the characters as "hero" and "heroine".
The Japanese text looks to me like just type A or type B.
I guess that explains why the developer complained about having to change that for the western audience.
the text added in the English version is the bottom text
in the Japanese Version you enter your name, then select リックスィA or リックスィB (Look A or Look B) and after wards it shows you selections and asks is this ok
in the English Version you enter your name, then Select Appearance A or Appearance B, and afterwards it shows your selections and asks if your happy with them while adding "You would play as a hero with appearance A and a heroine with appearance B
also on a side note it seems the French, Italian, and Spanish translations are all based on the English one as they do the same thing. (they also use the same name restriction)
In this unusual instance, the English text is nearer in intent to the original Famicom game.
haven't had much tie to play and have been spending it looking at the character creation screen in different languages, so can't say as far as during gameplay. but it can be changed at any point from the starting menu. also if said starting menu is any indication, no furigana
I could always buy and refund if need be.

so it seems like they might have removed Furigana; went as far as the start of the personality test and none came up.
However, after confirming your name and appearance the first thing it asks is if you want to enable 'Hiragana mode' which replaces any Kanjii in the text with Hirigana so maybe thats why i didn't come across any furigana in my (very very short) time playing in Japanese. thouhg if that is the case i feel like furigana would still have been better...
Seems like a suit just convinced them that they HAVE to add in type A and B no matter what.
My fellow Japanese people also have doubts about it.
To me, the price of these products only elevates my level of annoyance and anger for this stuff. Gaming is an expensive hobby, we should be acting like its one to care about.
