I opened up the right syn dial, but I can't get in the main room and I have covered everything I thought anyway

Did you make sure to hit the buttons in the correct order?

all I know is I clicked on all of them. The last one I clicked was the one on the far left. Don't know what happened, but I didn't fall

You should have gotten a cutscene or a message when you hit the two buttons in the right order to open the center room

Press the button on the far right that didn't drop you, then follow it with the one on the far left

You have to press them without having fallen. If you fall you have to start over. Like GespenstKAF said, do the far right then the far left one only and in that order. Don't press the other two.

Just did this bit. Press the far east one first then press the far west one second. you will get a message saying something about a stone door opening up.

I don't understand this. I did exact;y as you told me. Far right then the far left. far right was ok but, once again, I fell in the far left

Well come back up so that it resets. It's the rightmost one on the right side of the floor, followed by the leftmost one on the left side of the floor. Nothing else. From what you write nothing triggers the pit trap but the leftmost button?

This puzzle has always been confusing when you mess up.

Make sure you have left the floor and come back to reset it, then only do the two as shown.
