DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D Remake

DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D Remake

DQ Celebration Sale ends June 3rd, next sale Sept 25th
Just letting folks know - the current 25% discount ends on June 3rd

If you are waiting for a better discount, you may be waiting until September.

Based on past trends, I anticipate that the game may skip the Steam Summer Sale and might not be discounted again until the Tokyo Game Show Sale[gg.deals].

Have to agree. DQ games sell well on Switch 2 which starts launching in a few days. There may not be a discount for a few months. But I do think they will discount once before October launch of I & Ii HD Remake, so your Tokyo Game Show prediction (September?) looks to be on point.

Are you getting paid by SE to promote the game?

Trying to use FOMO to get people to buy the game and not getting paid would be stupid in my opinion.

As far as the goal of this post- a lot of people have been waiting for a sale and this is evident in many threads. Many feel that $60 USD is way too much to be asking for this title and the 25% discount is not exactly impressive.

Past DQ titles have received far better discounts, even Dragon Quest XI got a discount to only $30 just a few months after release. I'm a little bewildered why they're being so stubborn with a title that should have had lower production costs. Maybe it's their recent management shakeup[automaton-media.com] or the private equity firm that acquired a stake in the company[jp.reuters.com], i'm not sure.

As a DQ fan, I want more people to be able to enjoy the games. And having been in the position of waiting for discounts in the past to be able to afford them, I think it's worthwhile.

Of course, there are other ways to play them. But for those that are looking to buy here, it's probably better that they know when a better discount is going to become available.

You are doing it for free then...
Which you are totally entitled to do even if I think it is stupid.

Steam has the wishlist feature that will tell when a game added there enters on sale.
They even allow one to order the wishlist by sale.

But hey, you do you :)

This is a really good feature and people should definitely be aware of it.

However, I also understand that not everyone checks their email on a regular basis and I have seen some folks completely miss sales as a result, especially if a sale only lasts a week or two.

I personally have a number of games in my wishlist and unfortunately I end up getting enough of these emails that I end up tuning them out lol

Tbf wirh 11 the game had already been out for a good while and the newer one was the definitive edition that Japan got with the Tockles.

The Japan exclusive version of 11 (that being the 3DS one) is actually quite different from the Definative Edition's version of it, FWIW (and the S/Definitive is the same across all regions)

I'm not 100% sure what you're referring to, but I was referring to the OG version of Dragon Quest XI released on Steam in September 2018 - the first discount was in December 2018, which reduced the price from $60 USD to $30 USD (50% discount).

Definitive Edition released on Steam in December 2020 and received its first discount in March 2021. The initial price for DE was already lower at $40 USD, and the first discount dropped it to $26 USD (35% discount).

With DQ3, they waited even longer and only dropped it to $45 USD (25% discount). Quite frankly it's an insult and the logic is baffling. If anything, I'd say that Square Enix is actively trying to sabotage the series since the series creator came out against their imposed censorship.
