"Helping Hands" feature
From the official Instagram page:

"The Helping Hands"feature, new to DragonQuest III HD-2D Remake, allows you to share party members between adventure logs on the same account. You'll be able to send one volunteer with their same attributes, level, and equipment to help your party on another adventure log."

This is a really cool new feature. I'm not sure if I'll use this much, as I'm going to be playing this game by myself, but maybe it could be used as a kind of New-Game Plus mode; sending one of the your level 40 characters to help out on your brand new game file. It could lead to some fun sequence breaking shenanigans.

Thematically, it also makes a lot of sense. You'd have to really suspend your belief in order to include this feature in something like a Final Fantasy game, but since we're creating our own party members in this game, it makes a lot of sense. It's almost like these guys hang out at the Bar all day and help out new adventurers. Of course, helping out multiple Heroes... well, there will have to be SOME suspension of disbelief.

It reminds me of Wizardry, one of the games that originally inspired DQ. You could create dozens of characters on a single disc, and anyone could gather these characters into a party and take them into the dungeon. You could even place a password on your characters to prevent your little brother from "borrowing" your level 15 Fighter and losing him permanently in the dungeon.

It's really cool to see this feature pop up, and it makes me curious what other little features they have added to the game that we don't know about yet.

Neat!

I sent my level 99 Monster Wrangler to my new character and with her click spell, I can open every door in the game, I love it.

This is of course the proper use for such a thing. Click, Fade (to get into Edina), and so on. Some gates will still be insurmountable, like getting the boat, but if you know your way around the teleportals, you can get pretty much anywhere on the map just abusing the hell out of those. Sequence breaking for sure! Still no Jipang, though :-(

I think I would appreciate this feature more if Helper characters could get xp and level up. I like the idea of making a bunch of characters, but you only need 3 of them for a single playthrough, so inevitably other characters get left behind, so it'd be cool to be able to pick them up on another save and use them like normal and their status be saved.

It's still cool, though, for transferring OP characters to new saves.

Cool feature........but why not be able to transfer the hero...post game? So if a player really wants a whole team of heroes, they can do it? But like have to actually beat the game every time or something.

It's not really OP, as created characters and class changing also create gods, but it's there for the challenge. Hero can't learn utility skills neither.

I wish the game had body color palattes to choose from too, like hair. And for the hero also.

I played and play a lot of wizardry and it's ilk (Elminage, the console wizardries as well) and never knew about a password to use character feature but that's kinda neat! The dragon quests that have you create your team are rare as far as jrpgs go with character creation, usually characters are set. In III the MC is more limited as they are always only able to be "hero" but in DQ 9 your "hero" can class change and is as organic as the rest of the created party. I can't really think of any other jrpgs that do character creation, and I totally see the inspiration from Wizardry when it comes to rationing spells for long treks, metering levels and being able to budget for gear, death etc. Character classes and whatnot so maybe character creation went along with that?
