Seeing as the only new thing seems to be troll lip change, since everything else seems to date back further than this release (even body types). There pretty much is nothing to see here.
This I can fully agree with. The pricing Atlus put on Etrian Odyssey especially was insane and I really hope they didn't sabatoge the possibility of future entries on PC with it.
SQEX DOES seem like it's trying to be better. If you look outside of this game, there's not just FFXVI, but also the remake of Romancing SaGa 2 which is $50, Dragon Quest Monsters The Dark Prince with is $40 WITH the DLC.
I honestly think this one is $60 because it's DQIII and, well, DQIII is the game than infamously (true or not) caused all future DQ games to only be released on weekends because people were taking off from school./work. They even parodied the release of this game in Yakuza 0 with a sidequest (kinda ironic given how Yakuza LaD ended up).
I actually kinda expect 1-2 will be $50 at this point.
I think the idea of standardized pricing can bite many titles in the rear because of the subjective nature of the value proposition.
It's kinda weird when you think about it. Someone in another topic somewhere (I want to say on the Yars Revenge forum) brought up the fact that the cost of living in California is quite high. Obviously this type of impact isn't a big deal to the multi-billion dollar publishers but you have small indie teams, one selling something for $20 might generate them a lot less profit than another selling it for $25 simply because of where they are located. But we as the consumer don't really see that sort of back end, just the end price.
The censorship is old (save for troll lips) so your complaints are misplaced as is using Toriyama's death in such disrespectful manner.
Troll Lip thing was already in Dragon Quest Monsters the Dark Prince while Akira Toriyama was still alive.
Do I really have to repost the definition of "Self Censorship" again... because I will if needed.
So literally nothing is new and it's faux outrage over nothing? Makes this really funny then.
