You can play the 1 & 2 Remakes in 2025.
Final Fantasy should be compared to DQ 3, as those games actually came out right by each other.
The story is just "kill bad guy, rescue princess" and there truly is nothing more to it than that.
Now, that does not mean the game has no good qualities. DQ 1 does two things way better than FF in my opinion: world map and towns. NPCs actually have personality in this game, and the flow of the map is brilliant.
The NPCs and towns are what gives this game a feeling of depth to the story.
You will need to wait later for the next episodes for having true exchange between character who make you feel like they are "real" and maybe even have a personality!
And even later for the next episode to have a "true" story in a more "complex" world with a "stronger" cast this time...depending the episode of course...
Everything he points out is there in the game, but a lot of people dismiss DQ on a surface level because they assume a story needs plot twists and multi-verse theories to be "good".
Of course, no one can account for opinion, but DQ 3 has a much deeper story than many people give it credit for.
I grew up on the series, and am able to come to my own conclusions, thanks. I do not listen to youtubers.
