Soul of Baramos [Spoiler]
So I am following a guide that is supposed to be for the remake, I think, maybe there have been several remakes and this isn'e the exact guide for this version, but it says I play Fairie flute and the woman is released from her prison in Rubies Tower.

The flute I have is in regular inventory and just says it will put people to sleep. When I approach the woman I get attacked by Soul of Baramos.

I died pretty quick the first time. I have sage (with mage spells). warrior. hero, and thief (who has priest spells). Everyone us over level 40 except the 33 thief. I am on Normal I think.

I have mirror shields since he casts Kaboom and Im thinking explosion isnt exactly fire damage? Or would an Ice shield make a huge difference there?

Have whatever armor provides highest defense on all characters.
Tried avoiding being slealed by the Cariere item but that didn't even work so I assume it just increases the chances of it not sealing your spells rather than always prevent it.

The highest level lighting hits for high 300s which is my top damage and I can kill the two adds, but he wipes me quick still.

Am I missing a simple strategy or skill? I also used kabuff, insulate, magic barrier, and oopmh when I could on warrior and hero.

Explosion (Boom) is its own elemental magic damage source, which the Tempest Shield explicitly covers and any magic resistance also covers (alongside fire, ice, wind, and lightning magic).

Mirror Shields also reflect your own Multiheals, so unless you got Lv. 38 Gadabout's Hustle Dance, think twice before using them.

Soul of Baramos has 1.2 Crack resistance and 1.3 Zap resistance, so they'll take more damage from ice/lightning, and have 30% confusion and sleep resistance. The Duplic Hat (double casts spells for 0 MP cost) obtained by flying to a mountain opening northwest of Manoza can be used by your Sage to shut him down with either Fuddle/Snooze (60%) alongside the Meteorite Bracelet (Agility +100%) below Ibis Palace. Every single boss in this game is susceptible to either confusion or sleep.
With his 340 Defense, you should be pushing for 295 Attack & 176+ Luck on Hero or 345 on your Luckless Warrior to even deal 100 physical damage minimum x 2 Oomph Powder
x 1.3 Hero's Lightning Slash (2.6 x 1.3 Zap resistance = 3.38, doubled if you can use Kol's Falcon Blade)
x 0.55 ~ 0.65 x 4 Hits Warrior's Sword Dance (4.8 on average)
x 3 Sap applications for roughly 1.36x, 1.60x, or 1.84x from your Thief

Along my way to try to get a Stormlord Sword from a drop, I managed to get a truckload of Staves of Strife. So when I saw I was going to be encountering this boss, I took a risk and decided to give one to everyone and have them all use it the first round, alongside a fire and magic resistance setup.

The effect was comically effective, but not the way I expected. Both allies completely shut themselves down when they tried to use Fizzle. Healing could have been a problem as my main gimmick is Sage's Staff/Power Shield, and the boss isn't completely helpless against this setup. But it wasn't, luck was on my side. However the boss started using Kaboom when everyone's Bounce wore off.
The soul of Baramose still casts a hard hitting single target fire spell. Asbestos earrings are worth wearing just for that. If someone can wear a flowing dress, that also lowers explosion damage. I think you can get one as a prize from the moster arena.
If you have a Gadabout who knows eggon that damage boost stacks with oomph. My luck focused hero was dealing 1700 damage with lightning slash. (I did not have a falcon blade at the time.) Well he was when a gadabout actually followed orders.
