Lol the Grand Dragon
Is it even possible to defeat without using Wild Side + Pile ON strategy? Is insane the amount of grinding you need to do.

I beat it without wild side first time around. Warrior does fine. So do a few of the weapons if used as items, as they cast spells of high damage, but you can get gear to double cast as well.

Critical attack does good to but.... you most likely wont have 720 mp to unleash it 12 times. As it's a 64 mp spell. Vs 9 for pile on.

But yes wild side is a broken ability in the game.

Saying that. Its useless in the dungeon after you beat him. Dungeon in sky, trials.

Ah you mean Xenlon, i was referring the dragon after the trials, I defeat it Xenlon also without it my first time. But The Grand Dragon is a whole different beast, He casts actions 3 times in a row, and paralyses you, sleeps you, dazzles you, and whole bunch different spells it casts. I dont think it can be done without the Wild Side + Pile On, unless you level to lvl 99 all your characters, because you also need to defeat it in less than 20 turns.

Grand Dragon has 30% Confusion resistance (60% via Fuddle, which you can double cast with Duplic Hat) and 40% Sleep resistance.
King Hydras for farming (97,600 EXP) are equally vulnerable to Confusion (0% resistance, 30% Sleep resistance), so you can also use Hypnowhip's group 35%.
Xenlon has higher 50% Confusion resistance compared to 30% Sleep resistance, so Snooze (60%) or Sleepy Slap (40%) work better on him.

Here's 11 turns with Wild Side + Call to Arms
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3iITbkY-Ug
and 3 turns with Wild Side + Falcon Blade (Merchant, Sage, Thief) + Persecutter.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hk1K6cIYfus [Privated, RIP]
Me personally, I leveled up 4 characters through all jobs and made them settle on 2 Sages and 2 Thieves. Then I leveled up 2 more Thieves that only went through Lv. 20 Wrangler first for Wild Side + Monster Pile-On. Use the Aid an Adventurer mechanic because that helper does not contribute to the EXP split, so you can use smaller parties for more EXP but still have a carry, or avoid developing a 4th entirely as you clone a single seed boosted character.
With those 4 Thieves, you can farm Steely Statues in the Claw/Boomerang trial for Exotogas with 40% sleep/paralysis/poison resistance (Martial Artist, Thief, Priest, Wrangler, Sage) and/or seeds to cap: 850 Attack is the cap, 500/500 Stamina/Wisdom for max HP/MP, 403 Wisdom at Lv. 99 is max 1.3x magic damage, 361 Luck at Lv. 99 is a 1.1 ~ 1.2 physical damage range but you can invest higher to 394 for max ailment resistance, 984 for max critical rate, or 999 for increased ailment chance.
  • Outside Jipang/Lanson: Strength
  • 1st Overworld Ocean: Strength & Magic
  • Tower of Rubiss 4F/Outside Damdara: Wisdom
  • Outside Portoga/Underground Lake: Luck
  • Outside Manoza = Luck, Life, Stamina
  • Outside Mur = Defense
You get 2 Duplic Hats, so settle on 2 Sages because one will be using the War Drum (AoE Oomph for 2x physical damage)/maining Fuddle and the other Wild Side + Sap/Persecutter. Lv. 31 Gadabout's Egg On is another 2x physical damage increase that stacks with Oomph and can compensate if you're not willing to grind that much.

Shame they privated that video, but dealing like 2700ish x 4 hits from a single Persecutter against Grand Dragon's 33,866 HP is a quick clear. As compensation, 4 turn Xenlon with Martial Artist Persecutter kind of demonstrates its potential.

I think there is a lot of space to learn different strategies, but honestly I did not feel like grinding to get characters level up for a long time, since basically the only thing standing on the way is the last boss.

Cutting Edge, a skill learned by warriors, along with wild side can hit extremely hard. I've managed to kill the grand dragon in 5 turns using wild side + cutting edge on three characters, while my healer, when not healing or using war drum, spams egg on my strongest character who is using rubiss sword, the egg on'd character can hit upwards of 4-5k in one turn, and the other character hits 2-2.5k. Class doesn't matter too much, but I hate having repeated classes, so my current party is just Warrior + Monster Wrangler + Fighter + Sage just for the appearance variety. I don't use any other buffs, and I don't use debuffs at all.

It's pretty much meant to be the final challenge to people who truly master the game. You won't have a fun time against him if you don't plan ahead with the sole purpose of beating him in mind.

Not for the faint of heart!

Very nice

Any good loot in trials dungeon?

I do the same for two alt thieves. But I do martail arts for critical attack, monster wrangler for Wildcats, pile on, than thief. The critical attack is just nice, but costly on mp.

Maybe if you use the Merchant charge ability first, so you can charge, crit, charge, crit.... cuts the necessary MP significantly.
