How are people getting lvl 99 so fast?

I'm farming Liquid Metal Slimes in the Slime Island in Alefgard (on North of Talontear Tunnel) and Jesus Christ after 2 days i'm still lvl 60 with my Hero, this is so slow and boring, and i've see tons of ppl already lvl 99 with every character/class on reddit and other websites.

In the old versions i've used to grind the Muddy Hands that spawned the Stone Statues ad infinitum and it was waaaaay faster to level up, i played the SNES version. But in this version the Muddy Hands only spawn more Muddy Hands and the xp/h is better at the LMS spawn anyway but damn

If anyone have any tips to improve my farming please i'm all ears, i'm already using Whistle to speed things up but still. Also using Puff, Metal Boomerang, Assassin's Stab etc... It doesn't help that most LMS flee before i can act tho

Hydras. Lava level of ??? 26k xp each. Much more guaranteed to kill. And liquid metals spawn in same area up to 8

i'll just rush Zoma then i think u need to finish the game to unlock this ??? dungeon right?

Does Drachy difficulty increase exp? wtf

There is a mod on Nexus that can increase gold and XP gain up to 10x as much.

As you level, either to get all abilities/spells on your character or 3 Thieves for seed farming, you should probably bench your Hero (post-game perk) because you're looking at 1 Martial Artist + 3 Thieves that have gone through at minimum:[/list]

• All 4 recruits: Martial Artist (Critical Claim), Thief (Hypnowhip, Persecutter), Monster Wrangler (Wild Side, Monster Pile-On)
  
• Minimum 1 recruit: Gadabout (Whistle) & Mage/Sage (Zoom, Fuddle), optionally Merchant (Service Call to randomly call an inn in overworld)

??? is post-game, which is how level so easily.

1. If you have pride, grind Zoma's Castle. Alefgard's Slime Hill has consistency issues as you are now. 1 Meteorite Bracelet isn't enough to outspeed, Puff's a meme since it takes one turn to transform and tanks your speed on the second turn, and Metal Boomerang isn't consistent because the wielders have less critical rate: Hero's 15%, Mage/Wrangler's 9%, and Thief/Wrangler's 6%.
   
2. If you don't have pride, grind ???'s 3rd floor lava area for 1 ~ 3 King Hydras. It's not that Easy/Dracky Quest gives more EXP than Normal/Dragon Quest, it's so you can auto-battle farm in god mode while multi-tasking because they'll fear/sleep lock you while disabling your magic and burning you to a crisp. If you wanted to earn your EXP, then you need to abuse Wild Side + Monster Pile-On for 125x4=600x2 damage or Hypnowhip/Duplic Hat + Fuddle (confusion) into Falcon Blade Persecutter (Kol item shop, Merchant, Sage, Thief) for like 1,500x2 damage out of their 5,800 HP. Use the Show no Mercy AI on your attackers but Follow Orders on your status ailment person in case the ailment fails, as the AI will choose the optimal damage while the player has to gamble.
   
3. Or skip the above step and use Thief's Padfoot to speedrun through all 8 floors of ??? so you grab Citadel Tower 4F's southwest dead end chest for a Destructiball, an all-target whip. Martial Artists equipped with this and maxed Luck for up to 30% critical rate is eventually how you kill Liquid Metal Slimes reliably, while their Lv. 47 Critical Claim for a guaranteed crit is the only consistent method for now.
   
4. Beat Xenlon with 3 Wild Side + Monster Pile-On and wish for Jipang's monster arena. Clearing rank 10 gives you a 2nd Meteorite Bracelet, so now you can finally outspeed a Liquid Metal Slime (~750 Agility) with your Critical Claims.
   
5. With high leveled Thieves, hit the island southwest of Manoza via flight for Seeds of Luck (all seeds are 3%) to funnel on your Martial Artist to make Liquid Metal Slime farmer more consistent, as that Alefgard Slime Hill actually has a nice variety of seeds. Mad Caps (2%) dropped by 119 Hocus Chimaeras at Rimuldar Region/Tower of Rubiss is reduced MP cost to use Critical Claim more.[o/list]

When I eventually buy the game, I do plan on doing easy mod speedruns, sure. For now, I still have the NES original, with randomizers installed so this release is going on a long backlog.

I also decided this was the best place to farm. I got to level 89 so far farming sets of 3 Hydras for 75000 exp

it's not cheating. it's being smart. why spend 1000 hours grinding, when 100 hours will do the same. but hey you do you and just complain why others can and you cant *shrug

Honestly after lvl 20 you shouldn't be there anyway. The palace of the boss you beat before you go to the dark world has liquid metal slimes. These give 12k a pop 1 to 3, plus a few random mobs.
Can just farm them by the warp..

Metal slime island is meh. Even if you like them, farm them at tower of transcendence. For some reason besides exp agility speeds dropped off them like candy, but not island ones.

Typically American. easy way out. And easy, hard mode meaningless grinding. I mean I can get 24 to 48k a round on my mode. All my party has highest martail art skill. It kills any slime in one hit. And well none can outrun me anymore.
