First person combat....
Its putting me off so bad....
Like how lazy do you have to be to not make animations for third person combat and then call it "in keeping with the og version" when were are like 20 years on. Improve it. Add an optional third person and make some animations for the sprites.

Sound response. See folks? If Blizzard can add a toggle for an entire graphical style as an overlay, SE could have added a 3rd person mode to show off their art. And if they did, you folks that are detracting from the argument WOULD BE PRAISING IT. That’s the irony lmfao.

COULD they do it? Yes.
Would people like it they did? Yes.
There's no gotcha here about people praising the option, because....so what if people would be praising it? How is that relevant to people being ok or even preferring the way it is?

But why is there this weird assumption that "well they could X so why didn't it?". This is hardly unique to this game, I see it over and over. As if every single little "X other game did this so why didn't this one?" means somehow there was laziness or whatever else.

Game development isn't as simply as 'add thing to game'. There's a huge balence to be had based on budget and time. And of course creative decisions. I actually find your argument here ironic given how against the inclusion of some things you don't want you are. Or have dismissed (for instance I seem you remember you mentioning how the Treasues & Trapdoors minigame was pointless so it's fine it's not there)

The old maxim, I'm sure you've heard it, comes to mind:

"You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time".

I would not be praising it.

I praise the developers who decided not to let players mess with the vision of the original game. The focus is on Toriyama's monster designs, not on the players. It is first-person for the same reason it was in the 80s; NOT because of technical limitation, but because of artistic vision and intent.

oh my friend but what better way to truly showcase the beauty and splendor of the original games then keeping all the modern features you feel is needed out? Not everything needs a toggle or modern approach and certainly not everyone needs to be pleased. Third person combat was later in dragon quests life when they start remaking those you will be happier this one is for the ogs.

Not everyone needs to be pleased? 3rd person combat existed with NES RPGs like Final Fantasy 1 through 3. There is precedance to include it that doesn't interfere with how games JRPGs were back then, just would deviate from how Dragon Warrior games were. But, Dragon Warrior games transistioned to 3rd person combat shortly after the NES' lifespan.

Ultimatey, it is about profits and sales. And you sell more copies when YOU try and please everyone with a toggle for 3rd person perspective. Heck, the Diablo 2 remake gave you a toggle switch to see the old graphics of the game and hop back into the remake new graphics,

Ultimately, we shall see how sales of this game are in North America upon its 1st week of release soon. If sales flop, this might be a contributng factor. A lot of video gamers won't buy the game until they see their favorite streamer(s) play it first.
this isn't final fantasy it's dragon warrior 3 which had first person combat it's not hard to understand

Wait.... Now that i think about it... Was not Phantasy Star II-IV and Far East of Eden series (Japan only sadly) 1rst person? Those had characters show up and do the attack animation themselves.... Humm

FPS combat is deal breaker. They are lazy and spent more money on dei and denuvo
Spardacus Nov 13, 2024 @ 12:48am
They charge 60$ not 25$, so higher expectations are justified.

Would love to people to say what is better on the first person view compared to the third person view we all that live in the present prefer.

Lets sign a petition for third person combat

Well for me it's nobuy then. Same reason I can't play SMT. Driving me crazy. DQXI has it and you can switch between modes. Can't understand why would devs not do it.

I am glad I refunded, turns out i was right, its really jarring.
In fact I dont think the "improvements" are reflected in the price at all. Its overpriced, and the devs did not improve the game in robust ways that improve the experience.

The excuse "keeping it close to the OG" doesnt wash when you can add OPTIONS.

Bro you're just straight up missing out over something petty why would you just refund it over something insignificant???

This version of Dragon Quest III is literally the best out of all of them and has so much more going for it
