Difficulty Options?
I'm not sure if this game NEEDS them but just curious.

Yep, there are three. Normal, easy, hard.
I don't think we know what makes it easy or hard yet, but yes there will be difficulty options.

Yes, it's been confirmed there's 3 of them. Dracky quest is easy mode, dragon quest is normal and draconian quest is hard mode. If what that french review I watched is correct though, "easy" mode is more like "baby's first video game" since the reviewer claimed that in that mode you can't drop below 1 hp no matter how many hits you take after dropping to 1.

If true, I'm not sure why they needed to make it *that* easy but oh well. Majority of players are likely to never touch that mode anyways. I thought the difficulty was fine on the NES so I'll just play normal myself.

That sounds entirely fake there is no way Dracky Mode makes your characters unable to get killed

There would be no point in healing or revival magic or anything besides dealing damage.

You might as well just have an instant win button.

This is why I'm skeptical about it and said "if true". Honestly I would be baffled by that decision if they actually did that. I'm thinking the dude made that ♥♥♥♥ up considering I've heard no one else mention this at all in their coverage.

Yeah I'm going to press X to doubt on that one.

If its anything like DQXI, Dragon Quest mode will be the original standard difficulty of past games, though theirs more skills and abilities now. Draconian Mode however, will likely add 10-15+ more hours to your playthru, since youll want to do all the side stuff, get all the secrets, and be as strong as you can. With exp rates lowered, it will make it take longer.

I myself will do Draconian mode. I played thru the original and remakes/remasters of this game, one of which I did the solo hero run thru which had a few bits of special dialogue if you accomplish certain things solo. Heck I wonder if you can do a solo run of this remake.

Hmm

Yeah, I just hope one of these difficulty options has XP rates similar to the original. I don't want the higher difficulty making combat longer by making enemies have more HP.

lol yea, the more I think about it, the more that x button's getting a work out.

I'm sure most people that would even show an interest in an easy mode would lose said interest quickly if it was instead a "I swallowed a gameshark" mode.

So, with the game out, has anyone actually tested Dracky Mode?

Yea, and the info I had was correct, you cannot be killed by damage in dracky mode. I'm not sure if they even let you die with instant death spells as I had no desire to test it ;p

Wouldn't be surprised if they like, just made everyone immune or something.
Volcannon Nov 20, 2024 @ 7:42am
Unless I get corrected, you are immune to the Whack and Thwack spells. Not sure if Blasto works on the party since every time the enemy used it, it missed.

Btw, that also applies to the monster arena battles as they will never get killed in Dracky Mode.

I tested it and noticed that with Thwack it'd show 'Miss' on the hero but not on the other three. Which is a bit odd...
