MINDWAVE

MINDWAVE

Just a slight Psychological's Understanding of Mindwave
The concept around this game is something I haven't seen in a game really, though it does feel like Squid Games, for those who have played it. It is also similar to another game that is coming out this month: "Ena: Dream BBQ" being on this weird trippy factor in a unique world setting with established understandings and behaviors. Every aspect in this game was center and delicately motivated towards making the player feel a certain way, invoking multiple sets of emotions at once which is really cool.

My hope is that this game has multiple saves where each save feels different even after you complete the game. Spoilers for those who have not played the demo moving ahead:

Something I really enjoyed in the game was in the lobby actually, seeing an array of characters we could possibly get associated with or skip over dialogue with entirely, this sets a possiblity of multiple endings and unique scenarios where depending on who you speak with on each lobby floor or lack there of speaking to, can change the outcome of who you compete against first maybe. For me, I spoke to Dom and Alex, never even getting to speak to Abbie who was the first character we go against in the tournament. Despite me never speaking to her however, I still got to understand the fundamentals of her personality through her mini games and upon beating her, I gained a good understanding of how she is and who she could be before seeing her dropped out of the tournament. Now I don't know if this is a dark turn where they possibly just killed her off but for me, I got attached to her through her mini games only to loose any interactions I ever could have had with her and I find that really interesting.

I'm hoping it's all randomized in a way that each character has unique dialogue for each calm floor between every mindwave battle that way whether people choose to skip or not, depending on who makes it, it makes those stakes feel that much more real. I was ready for the next level to see if my friend made it, or if Dom made it, or if Alex made it, let alone others. I like how it's playing into the emotions of both the characters and player and I wish more games kind of approached things with more choices that feel like they matter.

Overall a really good demo, sad I never got to support the kickstarter as I gladly would have but I can't wait to see what they do moving forward. Keep up the amazing work.
