How do you get "mace skill"?

I have never seen it... And for some reason the game is only giving me maces.

You have to find and read a tome that has "Mace Apprentice" skill in order to be able to use Maces. They can be found on some chests and boss fights. Can be dropped elsewhere too, but less chance
